Gothic 1 Remake – How to Unlock the Captain’s Cabin

Gothic 1 Remake has a few different hiding spots to unlock hidden treasures. Most of them will require you to lockpick the door or chest to get to them, but some of them will have a key hidden somewhere nearby. Once you find the shipwreck, you need to find the cabin door key to unlock the contents within.​

Gothic 1 Remake – Captain’s Shipwreck Overview

​Captain’s Shipwreck Cabin Location​

The shipwreck is located in the far east section of the map, near the shoreline. Follow along the beach to find a broken ship. If you get on the ship, you will find a locked door. While you can lockpick the door and get the loot, I later realised that I could collect the Captain Ship key from the goblin camp up the hill. If you don’t wish to work on the lock, then follow the steps to reach the goblin camp.​

Goblin Camp Location​

I recommend getting the climbing and diving skills before you embark on finding the goblin camp. Speak to Theron in the Swamp Camp to learn how to climb. As for diving, you need to seek out Homer, but his location is random. I found him at the edge of Swamp Camp, but he could also spawn at New Camp Dam.

​Once you are ready, return to the ship and turnaround from the cabin door. Run over to the other part of the shipwreck ahead. Get up the stairs and keep walking towards the tip of the ship. From there, jump towards the cliff wall, and you should latch on.

Climb up and follow the path ahead, then climb down once you reach the end. Continue down until you reach the climbing path to your right, then climb horizontally. Go up after that and continue down the path. ​

After making the third jump across the platforms, look over the ledge to find another climbable wall below. Make your way down and jump across to the cliff wall to your right. Climb up to reach the goblin camp.​

Captain Ship Key Location​

Explore the goblin cave beside the camp and defeat all the goblins around. These enemies are pretty easy to take care of, so keep beating them up and exploring the cave. Eventually, you will reach a large area with a campfire in the middle. Over here, you will find a large troll, but you don’t need to beat it.

​What I recommend is to take the path on the right or left that slopes upwards, since the troll can’t follow you there. Once you reach the top, you will find two chests: one on your left and one on your right. The right side of the chest contains the key, but you need to lockpick it first. Follow the steps below to unlock it.​

Pick up the key and other random items from within the chest. You could also lockpick the chest on the left, but it will take a lot more time. Once done, jump off the ledge and into the water, and make your way back to the shipwreck cabin.​

Unlocking the Cabin Chest​

Once you reach the shipwreck, use the key on the door to gain access. There is some random loot in the room, so explore it and collect the items here. At the very back of the cabin is a chest that you can lockpick to find more loot. The lockpicking sequence is as follows.​

Unlocking the chest will give you the Armor Amulet, a Ruby, 17x Arrows, 10x Coins, 12x Bolts, and 1x Iron Wood.​

What does the Armor Amulet do?​

The amulet provides +15 Blunt Resistance and +15 Point Resistance when equipped on your character.​

Can I beat the Troll?​

You can try beating it once you reach a higher level, as the Troll requires above 60+ damage to beat it.

​What else can I find inside the chest with the Shipwreck Key?​

You will also get some potions, ores, and healing consumables along with the key.
