How to Deal with Depressed Miis

Some Miis might get upset if things don’t go their way. If you find a Mii who is heartbroken or has gotten into a fight with a fellow resident, then they will have a blue Pondering bubble appear over them. Some other visible changes are that their happiness meter will turn into the Sadness meter, and they might also refuse to eat.
If you let them roam around for longer, they might end up unproductive and will stop leveling up completely. There are a few handy ways I found to get my Miis back on their feet and unlock their happiness meter once more.
Gifting
The most basic method of keeping Miis happy is to give them things that they like. This applies to Miis who are sad too. Keep giving them clothes, treasures, pets, and more to help take their mind off their heartbreak. The best item I would give my sad Miis was a Travel Ticket, as I found this to be the most effective in removing the sadness meter, even if it was full.
Making Up
If the Mii got into an altercation with another Mii, then set them up together immediately to apologize and make things right. If you let the fight escalate or ignore the situation, then the Miis might turn hostile and will never see eye to eye. In that case, if they don’t patch up or apologize after several tries, then it is best to remove one of them from the island.
Bring Their Crush Around
If the Mii has a crush on another Mii, or is an object of a crush, then putting these Miis together seems to help remove the Sadness meter. The more time they spend together, the happier the Mii will get. It is even better if the Mii who is crushing on the sad Mii confesses their love to them, as this will give the sad Mii an instant happiness boost.
FAQs
What happens if I let my Miis stay sad?
Besides the fact that a sad Mii will not level up anymore, they will also stop participating in island events. Sometimes, they could turn hostile and pick fights with the other residents, too.
My Mii refuses to eat its favorite food. What do I do?
If they don’t want to eat while sad, try giving them other items like furniture or clothes to bring the meter down. Even petting them will help, but it won’t be as effective as giving them gifts.
How do I prevent Miis from getting sad?
There is no clear-cut method to prevent sadness in Miis, as this is part of the game’s features. The only thing you can do is try to do fun things to make them happy again.
