Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream – How to Get Pets

    By Kirthana KApril 18, 2026Updated:July 24, 20264 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • You can create pets from the Studio Workshop.
    • This works after unlocking the Treasures option in the Wishing Fountain.
    • Pets can be gifted to any Mii in the game.

Since you will be building a simulation in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, you need to add several real-life elements to the game to make it more believable. That’s where the choice of adding pets appears, and you can gift pets to your favorite Miis.

    How to Add Pets

You can now create pets in the game, but you need to go through some prerequisites to unlock them. First off, head over to the Wishing Fountain and unlock the Studio Workshop. If you haven’t unlocked the Studio Workshop yet, you need to collect Warm Fuzzies to level up your Wishing Fountain. The easiest way I found to collect Warm Fuzzies is by keeping my Miis happy.

I didn’t have to work on leveling up my Miis for this, as each action that kept them happy helped collect Warm Fuzzies. The more Warm Fuzzies are gathered, the easier it gets to unlock all the features of the Wishing Fountain. Keep doing this until you unlock the 6th slot for the Studio Workshop.

After obtaining the Studio Workshop, unlock it and use another wish to unlock the Treasures option. After that, put down the Studio Workshop on your island. Interact with the building to get into the new menu. Over here, select the New Creation option and select Treasures again. At the bottom right corner is the option to create Pets.

Now that you have access to the new Pets menu, you can create a new pet from scratch or use any of the preexisting templates. Within the templates, you have a dog, a cat, a bird, and a teddy bear. If you already have an existing pet template from earlier and wish to use that, then click on the Base on Existing Creation button at the bottom of the screen. Once a pet is created, you can assign traits and even pick a name. After picking out how they will act, click on Confirm.

All created pets will be sent to the Treasure Shop, which is another building to unlock and place. If you don’t have the My Treasures! Store, all you need to do is head over to the Palette House and create your first Treasure. Whatever you create will be added to the Treasure store for sale. You need to head over here next and purchase the pet you want.

After that, hover over your desired Mii and select it. Choose the gifting option and select the Treasures button on the bottom right corner. Once here, select the Pets tab to give the Mii a pet made from the pre-existing templates, or select the paintbrush tab right beside the Pets tab if you have created a pet from scratch.

    How to Get More Pets

Besides creating a custom Pet, you can also get pets as random treasures. Each time you play any of the mini games on the island, you can select a small, medium, or large box if you win. Within these boxes, there is a random chance to get any of the following pets.

    FAQs

What will Miis do with the pet?

Miis will treat the pet as a being to take care of. They will feed it, interact with it, and take it for walks.

How many pets can I give my Mii?

You can give several pets to your Miis, but keep a tab on the number of items you give them. Each Mii comes with limited gifting slots, so distribute the pets amongst other Miis.

How to get the UFO pet?

You need to view an Alien Abduction dream at least once to have this pet unlocked.

    Can I sell my pet?

Yes, visit the Rite Price pawn shop to sell your treasures, which include pets.

My Mii doesn’t interact with the pet given. What do I do?

It will take a while for the Mii to acknowledge your pet, so give it some time. Eventually, you find them interacting with the pet.
