So, here’s a complete guide to master the combat system in Farever’s Early Access.

Basics of Combat: Class Skills & Weapon Skills

Let’s start with the basics of Farever combat: Class Skills and Weapon Skills. There are four Classes in the game: Warrior, Mage, Rogue and Cleric. Each Class has their own unique Skills with a key Passive effect, and the entire combat rotation revolves around mixing the Class Skills with the Weapon Skills.

Class Skills are exclusive to their respective Classes, which means you cannot interchange them. They are fixed based on the Class you choose at the beginning. However, Weapon Skills are tied to various weapons available in Farever, and they’re interchangeable thanks to the game’s Arsenal System, which I’ll discuss later. Every weapon has unique Weapon Skills depending on its rarity. The better the rarity, the more Weapon Skills a weapon will have.

One of the most important things about Farever’s combat is that it does not have a Mana system to use your Class Skills and Weapon Skills. Instead, every Skill has a cooldown, and you can reset this based on the effectiveness of your builds. Additionally, Farever also has action combat elements that I’ll list below:

    • Auto Attack: This depends on which weapon you’ve equipped and includes a Final Combo Attack in the attack chain.
    • Dodge: Similar to most RPGs, Farever has a dodge button that can be used to sprint.
    • Block: The game also has a block button. It can be used to parry if you time your blocks correctly. Blocks and parries will have specific effects depending on the weapons you’re using.

It’s also worth noting that Weapon Skills have different Ranks. These Ranks offer various bonuses and passives in combat. The more you upgrade a weapon, the more Ranks you’ll unlock for your Weapon Skills. These Weapon Skill Ranks are useful for creating build synergies to maximize their potential. With Class Skills and Weapon Skills out of the way, let’s move on to the unique Arsenal System.

The Arsenal System: Mixing Weapon Skills

The Arsenal System in Farever allows you to equip a second weapon in your Arsenal Slot and choose one Weapon Skill from that Weapon Skill Tree to create a hybrid build. This is done with a primary weapon equipped, so you get the best of both worlds. You unlock the Arsenal System after you reach Level 7. This means you can practically mix and match your Weapon Skills to make your build more viable and flexible.

You can try multiple abilities with different weapons in your Arsenal Slots. For example, you can create a DPS-focused build while having an off-heal ability from a different weapon attached to your Arsenal Slot. The Arsenal System helps you synergise different weapons and create the most optimal builds possible.

Talent Trees: Enhancing Class Skills & Weapon Skills

Talent Trees in Farever enhance both your Class Skills and Weapon Skills. Since the game is still in Early Access, there’s only one Talent Tree per Class. Of course, there are more Talent Trees in the works, but for now, you have to make do with only one Talent Tree per Class. These Talent Tree Skills are extremely strong Passives that you can upgrade for your Class.

These Talent Trees also determine the playstyle you want in Farever. These will enhance your Class Skill and Weapon Skill passives, and in a fast-paced MMO like Farever, ability rotations within both types of Skills is the way to master the game’s combat system. The Passives define the archetype you’ll be using in the game.

Attributes & Stats: How It Scales With Combat

Like most MMORPGs, Farever has Attributes and Stats that scale with combat. Five basic Attributes depend on the Skills you’re using and what scales with that specific Skill. These Attributes also offer certain Passives, such as increased Dodge Chance, increased Critical Chance and more. Here’s what they are:

    • Vitality: Increases your Maximum Health.
    • Strength: Increases the damage of Skills based on Strength.
    • Dexterity: Increases the damage of Skills based on Dexterity.
    • Faith: Increases the damage of Skills based on Faith.
    • Intellect: Increases the damage of Skills based on Intellect.

On the other hand, Stats offer unique Passives during combat. Stats and Attributes are more or less interchangeable in this case, but for the sake of simplicity, I’ll differentiate them. Here’s what they are and the effects they have:

    StatEffect
Critical ChanceChance to land a critical strike, dealing bonus damage or providing bonus healing equal to your Critical Bonus.
Critical BonusBonus damage and heal are applied when you critically strike.
Armor PenetrationPhysical Attacks and Skills ignore a portion of the target’s Armor.
Magic PenetrationMagic Attacks and Skills ignore a portion of the target’s Magic Resistance.
FervorIncreases the damage, healing and shielding of your Skills, while reducing damage taken by half of that amount.
BlockReduces damage taken when you block.
Dodge ChanceRepresents your chances to entirely dodge an Attack, avoiding damage and effects.
Magic MasteryIncreases all your Magic Damage.
Physical MasteryIncreases all your Physical Damage.
ArmorReduces Physical Damage taken from an enemy of the same level.
    Maximum HealthRepresents your Maximum Health.
Health RegenThe amount of Health you regenerate every 3 seconds while out-of-combat.

From all the Stats, the one you should focus on is Fervor. This sums up the entire combat system in Farever. It’s up to you to create the best builds, synergise Weapon Skills, use the best Class Skills and upgrade your Weapon Skill Ranks to utilize the dynamic combat.
