In Fields of Mistria’s new update, you can step up your new marriage by having a baby with your chosen spouse. The path of having a baby is quite easy, but the hard part is the wait to hold your baby when the time comes.

How to Start Having Children
The first step of having kids is to get married, so pick a favorite character and start planning your big day. Once that is over, you and your new spouse will start living together. If you are expecting kids quickly, then you might not have any luck with that. I had to wait a few in-game days, and it will typically vary between 13-16 days.
To pass the time quickly, you can spend time with your spouse, arrange new furniture for them, go fishing, and complete any other task available in the update. Once the days are up, wait for a special cutscene to appear. In this cutscene, your character will interact with a Great Bird. The Great Bird will give you a Mystical Feather and will tell you to discuss the topic of having children with your spouse first.
Using the Mystical Feather
After the dream sequence is over, you will have the Mystical Feather item on your character. You don’t need to use it right away if you don’t plan on having children, but it will stay in your inventory until you are ready. Once you are sure of having kids, hand over the feather to your spouse to start the discussion. Over here, you can confirm that you want to have a child, or tell them that you aren’t sure.
If you pick the option that you aren’t sure about having kids, the conversation can be pushed for another day. But if you had picked the option to have a child, you will reach another dialog point where you need to be sure about having a baby. Confirm or deny by picking any of the dialog choices, after which you will get a pop-up about going to bed. You can go to bed right away, or wait until the day is over.
Adoption or Pregnancy
After hitting the bed, you and your spouse will meet up with the Great Bird this time. During the dialog options, you will be told that you can either choose the bird to deliver your baby via adoption, or your character can go through the pregnancy and carry the baby instead.
After the initial choice, you can still wish to go back and change your answer once the next set of dialog options appear. This will be your final choice, so you can pick any route to see the possibilities before leaving the dream sequence.
Having the Baby
You need to wait half a season later to have your child physically, so you have to wait for 13 days. If you are having a baby via pregnancy, then your character will be at the clinic. If the baby is arriving via adoption, then you won’t be at the clinic, but rather at home with the new baby. Once the baby arrives, you can pick their name by selecting the random name generator, or choose a name for them yourself.
After that, you can check your in-game mail to find a new Baby Cradle ready for use. Your spouse will do most of the childcare, but you can hold your baby from time to time too. Sometimes, your spouse might take the baby to their own home, so you can visit them there and bring them back to your place once you are done with all the in-game tasks.

Can I pick the gender of the baby?
No, the gender of your baby will be assigned at birth depending on your spouse, and there is no way of knowing the gender or changing it prior to that.
Can I still take my spouse on dates after having a baby?
Yes, you can still spend time with them post-baby and plan dates with them. While you two are away, a babysitter will be assigned to take care of the baby.
How do I carry the baby?
While near the baby, press G to hold it, after which it will be placed on your back. To give the child back to your spouse or place it in its cradle, press G again once near the cradle or your spouse.
Will my baby grow up?
There’s no update right now that shows whether the child you have will grow up, so you have to wait for future updates to know more.
Can I change my baby’s appearance?
Unfortunately, there is no option to change the features of your baby, so you will always get a fixed sprite to act as your baby.
