If you are on a hunt to fill up your Pokedex, then adding Phione should be on your list. Unfortunately, unlike other Pokémon in Bubbly Basin, Phione is an exceptionally hard Pokémon to find.

How to Visit Basin Dream Island
Before you get into the gist of it, you need to get the Starmie Doll so you can get to Basin Dream Island. The Starmie Doll is found deep within the Cerulean Cave, and you can find it as part of Frillish’s quest after locating her. In case you are impatient like me and wish to visit Basin Dream Island immediately, then you need to work on raising your Environment Level high enough to buy it from the Pokémon Center PC. It will cost 300 coins to buy it.
Plop the Starmie Doll anywhere and interact with it to summon Drifloon. Drifloon will come over and drag you to Basin Dream Island, similar to visiting any other Dream Island. Once you are here, you can start exploring the island to find new recipes, new hairstyles and outfits, and new habitat information. But we aren’t just here for that; we are here to catch the legendary Phione.
How to Easily Find Phione
Since Phione’s spawn is quite random, you won’t know whether Phione is available in the current Dream Island. You might need to revisit several times across various days to find it. Instead of going through all that, what I liked to do was visit Basin Dream Island and press the Pause button as soon as you land there. Make sure you don’t move at all while doing this step. Select the Pokedex and use the Active Filter option to showcase the following:
- Registration Status: All
- Location: In this area
- Specialities: All
This will show you all available Pokémon in the immediate area. If you don’t find a Phione listing here, then head back to the main game catalogue screen on your system and close the Pokopia game so it doesn’t save at your checkpoint. If you do that, your Dream Island visit will not be accounted for. When you reload the game again, you will be in your room. Interact with the Starmie Doll again and repeat the above steps until you find a ??? in your Pokedex.
Locating Phione
Once you have the ??? in your Pokedex, make your way to the central area of the zone and dive down. There is a large underwater cave system here, so keep diving deeper and find all the crevices to explore further. The deeper you go, the higher your chances are of finding Phione.
Phione is usually found in a room with some breakable walls. This is a random spawn area, so you might need to scale every inch of the ocean bed to find this room. Once you find some breakable walls, go through them to find Phione hiding behind the wall. Interact with it to add it to your Pokedex and befriend it.

Can I bring Phione back with me?
Yes, you can ask it to follow you back to your base. As for its habitat, even a Basin Tall Grass habitat is enough to keep Phione happy, but more intricate habitats like the Ocean Temple are preferred.
Can I time travel instead of using the above method?
Yes, you can change the system time to advance one day and revisit Basin Dream Island to find Phione.
I can’t find Phione anywhere, what do I do?
Keep checking your Pokedex to find the ???; it will eventually appear after several revisits. Then, you need to keep diving underwater until you find the breakable brick wall. There are no fixed spawn points for this, so patience is key while trying to find Phione.
