Now that Fields of Mistria has introduced marriage and children, you can quickly snatch up the more eligible bachelor or bachelorette around and make them your own. But before you jump into the wedding ceremony, you still need to get them a ring and propose to them first.

How to Get Engaged
After finding your ideal soulmate, your next task is to put a ring on it. But you need to reach 10 hearts with your favorite character first before you can propose marriage to them. There are a handful of eligible bachelors of either gender, and if you spend more time with them and give them things they like, they will be more likely to accept your proposal.
It took me a while until I got the indication that I could propose to one of my favorite characters. This happened after reaching 10 hearts on any character. Elsie will magically appear outside your home once you reach the requirement.
Speak to her to get the Engagement Ring Recipe. She will also explain that you need to discuss the idea of marriage with the chosen partner first before handing over the ring. That way, even if you did plan a future with them and got cold feet at the last minute, you can still back out of the proposal.
How to Craft the Engagement Ring
If you think the hard parts are behind you, then you are far from it. Crafting the Engagement Ring requires materials that can only be found in the Mines, particularly around the Ancient Ruins section. I had better luck exploring floors 60 onwards while in the Mines to get everything required to make the ring, but you can also visit Balor’s Wagon to find anything useful.
While in the mines, you need to look out for the following materials:
- 4x Gold Ingot
- 4x Mistril Ingot
- 2x Diamond
- 1x Dragon Forged Core
Crafting the Dragon Forged Core
Most of the above items can be found or crafted at the regular workbench, except the Dragon Forged Core. This unique item should be crafted at the special Dragon Forge workbench located in the Mines at Level 90. First, you need the recipe for it, which unlocks after completing the Dragonsworn Tablet Story quest. Alongside that, you need to scavenge the mines further to collect the following resources:
- 5x Monster Core
- 1x Mistril Ingot
- 1x Pink Diamond
- 1x Ancient Firefly
- 1x Medium Essence Stone
While you are in the mines, it is best to collect all the above-mentioned resources, forge the required items, then leave for your normal workbench in the overworld. It won’t take too long to craft both the engagement ring and the Dragon Forged Core, so you can leave those tasks at the end of the day too. Now all that’s left is to hand over the ring to the special someone.
How to Get Married
Now the day has finally come. After your successful proposal, you will find Elsie back at your door on your wedding day. She has brought Joshephine along to help you on your big day. Both ladies will tell you not to worry too much about your farm, and to focus on getting ready. Visit the Inn and try on the wedding clothes on display.
After selecting your perfect garment, select the Confirm button. Josephine and Elsie will revisit you here and guide you to the wedding venue. Watch the rest of the cutscene that plays out, after which you will be officially married.

What happens after getting married?
Your partner will move in with you, and you can plan on having children. This will be similar to other simulation games, and you and your character can start life together.
What will happen to all the other characters I have dated?
After giving your favorite character the engagement ring, the status for all other characters will revert to Best Friends. You will also find several breakup letters in the mail the next day.
Can I marry multiple people?
No, it is currently not possible to marry or date other people while married to one person.
Can I date multiple people?
Yes, while still in the dating phase and not married, you can date all the available candidates in the game. Post-marriage, you can only date your spouse.
How do I get divorced?
Currently, there is no feature that allows you to divorce your partner; hence, you need to really think hard about who you want to marry.
Are there any companions who I can’t marry?
No, there are no restrictions on who you wish to marry, but you have to pick just one person to spend the rest of your life with.
