Fatekeeper – How to Get the Burning Axe

By Kirthana KJune 3, 20265 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • You will encounter the Burning Axe after finding a way out of the Forgotten Halls.
    • This section appears towards the end of the area.
    • The Burning Axe is a one-handed weapon that inflicts burn damage, making it effective against enemies vulnerable to fire. Its burning effect can deal continuous damage over time.

Besides your starting weapons, you can find a couple of hard-hitting gear items in Fatekeeper. The Burning Axe is obtained once you start exploring the Forgotten Halls. To proceed, note that the only way to get this is to unlock the final area of the region. Next, let’s look at an overview of the Burning Axe and how to prepare for the Forgotten Halls.

How to Prepare for the Forgotten Halls

For this quest objective, you need to force your way through the Ruin Reservoir, and along the way, you can claim the new Burning Axe weapon. Before you begin, I recommend scavenging for resources to craft some basic mana and health potions. You can craft potions at the Alchemy pot after unlocking it.

As for weapons, I went ahead with the Axe of the Sentinel for extra slash damage, but you can pick any weapon of your choice. Another good weapon to use is the Ornate dagger for higher CRIT damage, or the Skill Club for close combat heavy damage. It also helps to unlock all the Attack and Speed stats on your skill tree for additional damage and speed boost.

How to Navigate the Forgotten Halls

Now, on to the main quest. From the campfire, head down the slope and jump up on the planks on the right. There are a few enemies on your way that shouldn’t be too difficult to deal with. Then, climb up to the platform on the left and continue ahead. The path is pretty linear, so you won’t have a hard time navigating around.

Defeat the enemies within the area and walk around to find random loot. You will also find a gate that you can unlock to get to the next area, but don’t go through it yet. Rather, wait around and watch through one of the gated windows to find a few enemies dancing around a spiked cube.

Wait for some of them to hit themselves against the spikes and die, after which you can go through the gate and watch a brief cutscene.

Take out the rest of the enemies and make your way to the lower floor. Avoid setting foot on the raised platforms, as these are traps. Continue going down until you reach a cellar and check a chest to get the courtyard key. Defeat the enemies around the area and go up the stairs this time.

You will find a gate to unlock with the cellar key, but before advancing to the next area, look to your right to find a doorway. Enter it to unlock a chest that contains the Lizard Skin Headdress. Equipping the Headdress offers elemental and poison resistance.

    Northern Fire Cap Location

Then, go back to the locked gate and use the key here. You will find another locked gate which requires the same key. Go upstairs to find a campsite on your left, then continue right to find an enemy on the upper platform.

Use telekinesis to drag him down and kill him, then go straight under where the enemy spawned to find a broken wall. You will spot a lever through the hole. Use telekinesis again on the lever to unlock the gate on your left.

Explore the new room to find a chest with the Northern Fire Cap. There isn’t much else here to find, so turn back and use the wooden crate to climb up onto the platforms above. Defeat the enemies here, then go straight through the area to find a flight of stairs going up. In the next room are more enemies, so take them down.

    Burning Axe Location

Continue forward and get up the stairs to reach the Great Hall. There are a lot more enemies here to take care of, so take your time exploring all the corners and clearing them out. The quest objective will change to Find a Way to Open the Main Gate. Explore the upper platforms to find a lever on the wall in front of two locked gates.

Pull the lever, then go up the stairs and go across the gap to the other side. To get across, use the platforms on the wall to jump. Once you reach the other side, pull the lever here too, then jump all the way down towards the floor with the spikes on the pillars. Keep going downwards and explore the area to encounter a locked gate, and the Burning Axe leaning against the wall near it.

    FAQs

Is it difficult to navigate the Forgotten Ruins?

While the ruins themselves look confusing, the path to the end is quite linear. You might need to backtrack sometimes to find new exit points during exploration.

What does the Burning Axe do?

The Burning Axe offers 10 slash damage and 15 fire damage, and costs 5 attack and 5 dash stamina.

Is the Burning Axe the best weapon?

In the early game, you can utilize its serious damage with additional fire attacks as a boon. But you may find it slowing down your character and isn’t apt for players who prefer more agile gameplay.
