Alchemy Factory – What Does Heat Value Do

    By Kirthana KDecember 29, 2025Updated:July 23, 20263 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • Heat Value is a measure of fuel; the better the heat value, the better the quality of that fuel.
    • Different types of fuel release different heat values, which in turn determine how long the production station can keep running.
    • The better the fuel, the longer and higher the heat value it retains, which helps run the production station longer.

Since all your production hubs will require fuel, you need to estimate the quality of fuel to produce enough heat. Keeping a check on the heat value of a type of fuel will ensure that you can use the machine efficiently, which also helps increase production in some way.

    What is Heat Value

Heat Value of fuel determines how long a production station can work. Using better quality fuel (which means using fuel that has a higher Heat Value) means that the production station can run longer, and produce many more items to keep your shelves stocked.

If you check out the table above, you can compare different fuel types to the amount of heat they produce. Of course, one thing to keep in mind here is that the specific item that is being produced also plays a part in how much fuel gets consumed.

Also, you need to keep a tab on the fuel type compared to the cost of producing it, as some fuels, even if they produce a lot of heat, are more expensive to create than fuel that produces moderate heat but offers more value for money. For a better explanation, let’s take a look at the breakdown below.

    Best Fuel for Heat Value

The other thing to consider here is the cost efficiency – how much does it cost to produce, let’s say, Charcoal Powder, vs. a Log. So, while a Log has a higher Heat Value, in terms of Cost to produce per Heat Value, Charcoal Powder is considered a better value for money: it is cheaper to produce Charcoal Powder, but fuel output for that cost is higher, making it a great source of power during mid-game. Plus, crafting Charcoal Powder requires less space than other fuel types.

    Increasing Heat Value Efficiency

Getting the Fuel Efficiency upgrade from the skill tree will improve the cost effectiveness per Heat Value. Once you get the upgrade, you could switch to Coke Powder (Wood/Coal). Once you upgrade the skill further, you would find it better to use Coke itself to fuel your stations, as the Heat Value per cost will be 2x times more efficient.

    FAQs

What fuel types are best for early game?

Planks, Logs and Coal are some of the best, most cost effective fuel types that also offer high Heat Value for early game.

What fuel types are best for late game?

Once you have enough space for bigger production stations, crafting Coke, Coke Powder, and Coal Ore are the best fuel options for late game.

Which is better, Wood Coke or Coal Coke?

Coal Coke and Coal Coke Powder are more stable than Wood Coke and Wood Coke Powder. It’s also easier to create the Coal variants of Coke and doesn’t require a lot of space to produce it.
