When you start Hytale, one of the first things you collect is stone and wood. You may have noticed that crude weapons mention that any type of wood is fine to craft them. However, there are certain types of wood you will need to store. In this guide, we’ll go over all the different types of wood logs you can collect.
Hytale Wood Logs Overview

| Types of Wood Logs | 10 |
| Region Found | Various, primarily in Emerald Grove |
| Uses | Farmer’s Workbench, Weapons, Portals, and more |
Wood is one of the primary building blocks in the game. You need it for a variety of purposes, starting with crafting weapons. Crafting your crude weapons requires wood logs. As you progress in the game, the Farmer’s Workbench, Furniture’s Workbench, Furnace, and Campfire will require Wood Logs, among other things.
To collect Wood Logs, you need to use a pickaxe on the trees. While cutting down trees takes longer in Hytale, there is an added perk for this wait. When you are harvesting a tree, attack its base, as when broken, it will drop all logs and plant fiber present in it.
How to Get Softwood Logs in Hytale

There are two types of Softwood available – Aspen and Beech. Luckily, both these trees are in the Emerald Grove zone in abundance. Aspen trees are light grey in color, and Beech trees are slightly brown in shade.
Softwood Logs are needed if you are looking to upgrade your Farmer’s Workbench to tier 2.
How to Get Lightwood Logs in Hytale
Birch Trees are a source of Lightwood logs. You can easily find Birch Trees in the Emerald Grove zone. They have a light green and light gray shade. To upgrade Farmer’s Workbench to tier 3, you require 10 Lightwood Logs.
How to Get Hardwood Logs in Hytale
There are two types of trees that fall under this category – Oak and Ash. Both of these trees are available in plenty in the Emerald Grove zone. Ash trees have a darker shade of green, and Oak trees are the lighter shade of green.
Hardwood Logs are required to upgrade your Farmer’s Workbench to tier 4.
How to Get Redwood Logs in Hytale

Two trees fall under this category – Maple and Redwood. To spot Maple trees, open your map and place your marker at the trees with red leaves in the Emerald Grove zone. Redwood trees are present in the Frostmarch Tundra region, a bit farther from spawn.
If you are upgrading your Farmer’s Workbench to tier 5. You need to collect 30 Redwood Logs.
How to Get Darkwood Logs in Hytale
Cedar Trees fall under this category. To reach the Cedar Trees, you need to travel to the Frostmarch Tundra region, marked as an ice region on the map. Harvest the trees that show up as bluish-green trees. To upgrade Farmer’s Workbench to tier 6, Hytale requires 40 Darkwood Logs.
How to Get Drywood Logs in Hytale

Taking your Farmer’s Workbench from tier 6 to 7 requires 50 Drywood Logs. Two trees can be collected for this requirement – Dry Tree and Bottletree. To find Dry Trees, just head over to the Howling Sands region on your map, and they are present in abundance there.
There are also lighter shade trees available in the region, which should drop the Bottletree for you. However, due to a bug, these Bottletrees sometimes drop Birch Logs instead of Bottletree Logs. So the safer bet will be to farm Dry Trees.
How to Get Goldenwood Logs in Hytale
Goldenwood Logs are needed if you are looking to upgrade your Farmer’s Workbench to tier 8. You need to collect Sallow, Amber, or Palm trees for this requirement. However, Amber and Palm trees are not easily available.
To farm Sallow trees, you need to head over to the Devastated Lands region. Here you will find trees on fire. However, there will be a few trees that are not burning. One of them will have yellow leaves, and that will be your Sallow tree.
How to Get Fire Logs in Hytale
To obtain Fire Logs, you again need to head over to the Devastated Lands region. While Sallow trees are the ones not burning, to obtain Fire Log, harvest the trees on fire. When harvested, they drop Fire Logs. These can be used to craft a variety of items via your Builder’s Workbench.
How to Get Burnt Logs in Hytale
In the Devastated Lands region, you’ll find trees that have gone dark grey after burning out. These trees are found near magma and will provide you with the Burnt Logs. Using your Builder’s Workbench, these Logs can be crafted into a variety of items.
How to Get Azure Logs in Hytale

If you are looking to build portals, Azure Logs are a definite requirement. These are, however, easier to find. You need to travel to the blue-colored region in Emerald Grove. Here, the blue-leaved trees will be your Azure trees, which will drop Azure Logs for you.
