Chapter 4 in Fatal Frame 2 Remake throws a tricky puzzle at you once you reach the Master’s Chamber. When I first reached this section, it took a bit of exploration around the Kurosawa House to gather all the required books before the puzzle even became solvable. To save some time, read on below so you can find the Tomes quickly.

How to Solve the Chapter 4 Tomes Puzzle in Fatal Frame 2 Remake
Once you have unlocked the Radiant Filter, follow the steps given below to solve the Tomes puzzle:
- The first book, Taboo Tome, is already sitting on the Buddha Statue Bookshelf. You can leave it there as it is.
- Now head over to the Kurosawa House Altar Room and photograph the spirit present there. Walk to the spot where the Spirit disappears to collect the Crimson Wing Tome.
- Head upstairs on the right side of the Altar Room. At the top, you’ll find the Disaster Tome underneath a table.
- Picking it up activates a butterfly pressure plate on the floor, opening a door elsewhere in the room. Mayu will offer to stand on the plate so you can continue.
- Go back down and take the staircase on the left side of the Altar Room. Follow the path to the door unlocked by the pressure plate and move forward to find the Twin Tome.
- After grabbing the Twin Tome, look through the opening to the Master’s Chamber. You’ll see two Spirits talking. This moment lets you capture multiple Spirit photographs. Near those Spirits is the Martyr’s Tome, the last book you need.
- While heading back, Mayu may get attacked by a Wraith. You can defeat it from your side if you have the Camera Obscura ready.
- With all five Tomes collected, you need to head over to the Buddha Statue Bookshelf. You now need to arrange the Tomes correctly.
- I was having trouble figuring out the right order for the Tomes. After some searching, the hint lies in the red colored letters on top of the Buddha Statue Bookshelf.
- Place the books in this order: 1. Crimson Wing – 2. Twin – 3. Taboo – 4. Martyr – 5. Disaster (as shown in the image above).
- Once the order is correct, the Buddha statue releases the Light Key, which drops from its hand for you to pick up.
