Subnautica 2 – How to Increase Maximum Tadpole Depth

    By Kirthana KMay 15, 2026Updated:May 18, 20263 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • To increase the max depth the Tadpole can dive at, you get to get a particular blueprint.
    • The blueprint in question is the Depth Module Mk 1.
    • After obtaining the blueprint, you need to craft the Depth Module Mk 1 at the Modification Station.

In Subnautica 2, after obtaining the Tadpole, you can get to places that you couldn’t before. But the Tadpole does come with limitations, and to increase the depth of the ship’s dive, you need to get a unique blueprint and craft the required part for it.

How To Increase Max Depth For Tadpole

The only way to increase the max depth parameters for the Tadpole is to get the Depth Module Mk 1 blueprint. To get this blueprint, make your way to the alien powerplant down at a depth of 194 m from your spawn point. Once you reach the control center, head 250 West. You need to enter the cave to make the next part easier, as I had a bit of a hard time while just floating around the waters.

Once inside the cave, find a spotlight on the floor and an opening right next to it. Enter the opening and make your way down towards the destroyed ship on the floor. Right beside it, check the area to find a rectangular object that will give you the Depth Module Mk 1.

How to Craft the Depth Module Mk 1

You need to own the Modification Station at your base to craft the Depth Module Mk 1. Along with that, you need to get the required materials, which are 2x Enameled Glass, 3x Celestine, and 1x System Chip. I could find Celestine at a depth of 268 m from my spawn point. System chips can be crafted at the Fabricator using 1x Wiring Kit and 2x Quartz.

As for Enameled Glass, you need to get 1x Glass and 1x Creature Enamel. Glass is easily crafted at the Fabricator using 2x Quarts. As for Creature Enamel, I could find them at 196 m southeast of my spawn point. Craft Enameled Glass at the fabricator, then take all the materials to the Modification Station to get the Depth Module Mk 1 for the Tadpole.

    FAQs

I can’t find the cave to get the blueprint. What do I do?

The cave in question is the same cave with the Ruby 2 blackbox and the Tadpole haul chassis. You will get a marker if you have visited the NoA at the Alien Ruins base.

How do I break the Creature Enamel?

You need to use the Sonic Gun to break the Creature Enamel and get it.

Are there other depth upgrades to the Tadpole?

Yes, you can also get the Depth Module Mk 2 for the Tadpole later on, but finding the blueprint is a lot harder.
