RuneScape Dragonwilds – Biohazard Quest Guide

Runescape Dragonwilds’ newest update unlocks the doors to Dowdun Reach. If you are looking for unique cosmetic items that resemble a part of the new region’s dreary landscape, then completing the Biohazard quest will reward you with one. But you need to find a way to unlock this quest first, and that will require you to dig deeper into the region’s secret areas.

How to Start the Biohazard Quest

I had a hard time trying to find Zanik during my initial run of Dowdun Reach, that was until I explored the Courtyard’s underground area. To find the underground entrance, once you reach the southern section of the Courtyard, enter through the western gate in the Cathedral area. After passing through the gate, head down the cave entrance to your left to get under the Cathedral.

Keep exploring the underground area until you find a second set of stairs leading down under the Library. Go past the traps in the area until you find an opening to the northeast. This will lead you to the Lake area. Walk around the lake and make your way northeast to find an opening that takes you to a flight of stairs. Continue up the stairs until you reach a jail room. Investigate the jail cells to find Zanik in one of them.

How to Complete the Biohazard Quest

After speaking to Zanik, you will be tasked with finding several items for her. First, you need to find 10 Corrupted Essence Samples that drop from Corrupted Ravens in Dowdun Reach.

Collect Corrupted Essence Samples

At first, I couldn’t differentiate Corrupted Ravens from regular ravens, until I took a good look at them. Corrupted Ravens resemble birds that have a black body and a unique red glow around them. They are generally bigger than their raven counterparts and are commonly found along the walls of the garrison and the cathedral.

Use any ranged weapon, like the bow, to take them down and collect Corrupted Essence Samples. Corrupted ravens will respawn after a few days within the same area, so you get to farm multiple Corrupted Essence Samples from them after a period of time.

Collect Dragon’s Blood

Return to Zanik after collecting the previous quest item to get the next objective, which is to get Dragon’s Blood. This item should be familiar to you if you have been hunting down Dragon Wolves and Green Dragons in Fellhollow. You will also get Dragon’s Blood from completing Doric’s questline in Fellhollow, which will reward you with Doric’s Smithing Supplies with Dragon’s Blood in it.

Collect Holy Water

You will find Holy Water in the Cathedral. While you are here, make your way to the backside of the Cathedral. Look around for a statue with water pouring out of its hands. You will find this statue at the very back, near the wall. Interact with the statue to collect Holy Water.

Collect Twilight Lily

The last resource required for this quest is found not too far from here. Head back to the underground lake near Zanik’s area. Once here, look around for large flowers in bloom. You will require just one Twilight Lily for the quest, so pick it up and return to Zanik.

Find the Source of the Cthonian Infection

For the final step of the quest, you are tasked with locating the source of the corruption. The only hint you get from Zanik is to go high up in Dowdun Reach to find the creature in question. Make your way to the Grand Hall and find a way up to the roof. The easiest way I found to get up there is to use Wind Step to jump on the well’s roof in front of the Grand Hall entrance, then use Wind Step again to reach the upper corridor.

Walk across the beams on the left to find an opening on the west side. Enter through the opening to find several flights of stairs taking you up. Once you reach the top, go through the eastern entryway and jump across the beams. At the end of the passage is a corrupted chicken named Putrillus. Speak to the chicken, then return to Zanik to complete the quest.

FAQs

What rewards will I get for completing the quest?

You will receive the Zamorak Cape blueprint from Zanik, which can be crafted at the Crafting Table. Equipping this cape will give you the following stats:

• +2 Melee defense
• +2 Ranged defense
• +2 Magic defense

I can’t find any of my collected quest items. What do I do?

You will find your quest items in your inventory’s quest item slots, so check that section to find all your collected items for the quest.

Is there any other way to start the quest?

Yes, you will also automatically start this quest after collecting one Corrupted Essence Sample from a Corrupted Raven before speaking to Zanik.
