Gothic 1 Remake – How to Unlock the Broken Tower Door

Gothic 1 Remake has a few hidden locations where you can find rare and exquisite loot. One such location can be found very early in the game, near Old Camp. You might need to level up your lockpicking skills first before venturing out to the Broken Tower. ​

​Broken Tower Location​

The broken tower is just west of Old Camp. The easiest way I found to get here is to follow Mordrag to New Camp during the Out of Sight side quest. You will reach a point in the quest where you will spot the broken tower.

​If you haven’t done the side quest yet, just follow the road until you spot two bandits on the road ahead. Turn around from them and find a way uphill. Eventually, you will spot the wooden bridge that will lead you directly to the broken tower.​

Broken Tower Key Location​

The tower door will be locked from the start, and while you can lockpick it, I decided to look around to find the key. Luckily, I didn’t have to venture too far to find the broken tower key. There is a chest beside the two bandits I encountered earlier that holds the key. If you missed seeing them on your path, all you need to do is climb over the ledge that’s to the left of the tower while facing the tower. ​

You will find a path that goes downwards. From the top of the path, you will spot the two bandits from earlier. It is best to use a ranged weapon and attack them from up here if you are not strong enough yet. Once they are down, head over to their location and loot the chest to get the Broken Tower Key, as well as a lockpick, 4x ham, 4x beer, and a torch. ​

How to Lockpick the Broken Tower​

In case you are not confident enough to fight the bandits and retrieve the key, then you can try your hand at lockpicking the door. Just follow the sequence below to unlock the tower door.​

How to Unlock the Broken Tower Chest​s

After unlocking the tower door, head upstairs to find a platform with a wooden chest. Unfortunately, the key obtained earlier cannot be used here, and there are no other keys around the chest as far as I’m aware. So the only way to unlock the chest is to lockpick it. I recommend having lockpick level 2 to make the task easier. ​

Anyways, to unlock the first chest, the lockpick sequence is as follows:​
