The new Riven Tide map in ARC Raiders offers the Beachcombing map event. But this event has a requirement, as you can’t participate without a Dockmaster’s Detector. This device acts as a metal detector and will trigger whenever it finds treasure nearby.

How to Get the Dockmaster’s Detector
The Dockmaster’s Detector is a critical instrument that lets you detect treasure buried underground. If you haven’t obtained the Dockmaster’s Detector yet, there are three common ways to get it. After progressing through the new questline a bit, you will encounter the Shoring Up Defenses quest. Completing this quest will give you a Dockmaster’s Detector.
Besides this, you will also get this gadget if you have completed the Place Bird Trap quest objective for the Avian Alarm Project. And finally, you might find this item on the bodies of fallen players, or by looting containers during map events. If you are going for this option, then the best way I found is to wait around for the Beachcombing event, since this event triggers a higher drop rate of Dockmaster’s Detectors.
How to Use the Dockmaster’s Detector
Head into your inventory and equip the Dockmaster’s Detector in your loadout’s quick slot. To use the device, just press down on the activate button to start the device. Then, walk around the area while aiming at the ground. If it starts beeping either orange or green, then you are close to or on top of the treasure. The faster the beeping gets, the closer you are to your target.
Once the flashing stops and the green light stays on continuously, then this is the spot to dig. Be careful, as some of my digs yielded some nasty surprises like Ticks or surprise bombs. But the effort is worth it, as I also had some stroke of luck in finding extremely valuable materials.
The best use for the Dockmaster’s Detector is during the Beachcombing event that appears occasionally around the Riven Tide map. I found one particular area that always had hidden treasure. The area in question is in the northern section of Riven Tide, near the Seabed. Use the device around the dried-up shoreline to find a unique treasure spot with valuable items inside.
