    Key Points

    • The Silent Assassin is an optional but missable side quest tied to Long Wu and requires specific timing.
    • Progressing the main story and obtaining the Buddha’s Light Jade – Yang is essential to advance the quest.
    • Completing the quest grants valuable rewards like Echo Jades and EXP.

The Silent Assassin is one of the easiest side quests you can encounter in Where Winds Meet, but it’s also easy to overlook. It involves precise NPC interactions, time-based conditions, and main story progression. This guide walks you through every step so you can complete the quest smoothly without missing any requirements.

Where to Find Long Wu Location

There are three possible locations where Long Wu will spawn. The earliest you can find him is at the Palace of Annals, since you need to complete the related quest of the same name to unlock the Silent Assassin side quest. While in the Palace of Annals, head over to the Hall of Seasons outside the palace to speak to Long Wu.

If this encounter doesn’t start the quest, or if you haven’t completed the Palace of Annals quest yet, then you can also speak to him at the Mercyheart Monastery Outpost. You would have searched this area earlier if you were out clearing outposts for loot. In case you did raid this location, you will find Long Wu in the southeastern section of the camp.

Finally, you can find Long Wu if you fast travel to the General’s Shrine Boundary Stone. Make your way to the rooftop of the shrine to find him. After your initial conversation with him here, change the hour to Hai time and check behind the General Shrine to find him again. Speak to him once more to trigger the Palace of Annals quest first, or the Silent Assassin quest in case you had completed the Palace of Annals quest.

How To Complete the Silent Assassin Side Quest in Where Winds Meet

    The Silent Assassin Quest

To successfully complete the Silent Assassin quest, follow the steps given below:

    • Speak to Long Wu at any of his spawn locations and exhaust all his dialogues, after which he’ll dismiss you. This completes the first stage of this quest.
    • Unlock Moonveil Mountain via main story progression to continue with the next stage of the side quest.
    • Travel to the Front Mountain Boundary Stone near the Hall of Seasons in the Moonveil Mountain area.
    • You’ll find Long Wu here again. Interact with him to get your next task for the side quest – to obtain the Buddha’s Light Jade – Yang.
    • To obtain that relic, you need to defeat the Lucky Seventeen boss as part of the main storyline. Once defeated, you’ll obtain the relic.
    • Return to Long Wu at Moonveil Mountain and give him the relic.
    • When you give Long Wu the Buddha’s Light Jade – Yang, he’ll share his plans to catch the silent assassin. Agree to meet Long Wu at Jadebrook Mountain in Qinghe.
    • Follow the quest marker to a waterfall near a cave, climb to the higher ground, and speak with the mortally wounded Long Wu to uncover the truth and complete The Silent Assassin side quest.

    FAQs

When does The Silent Assassin quest become available?

You can start it early after you have completed the Palace of Annals quest, but some steps require specific timing and main story progression.

I can’t find Long Wu on the shrine roof, what am I missing?

Leave the area and return later. He doesn’t always appear on your first visit. It may also happen that he does not speak to you. The key here is visiting him during the Hai hour to get through his dialogue and progress the quest.

Can you fail or miss The Silent Assassin side quest?

Yes, it is easy to miss because the quest depends on specific NPC locations, time (Hai hour), and main story progression. But you do not fail in this side quest, it just remains incomplete as you move through your main story.
