In Moonlight Peaks, you need to find resources to help upgrade various items and structures around your base. Early on, you will be tasked with finding copper, but the cave where copper is found isn’t clearly marked on the map.

Cave of Echoes Location
Since crafting is available in the game, you would be on the lookout for resources to help upgrade your existing gear or buildings. One of the core materials to get is Copper, and you will even have a quest related to finding copper. For the quest called A Croak and a Crest, you need to mine copper ores inside the Cave of Echoes.
I was a bit confused about where to find this new cave, as I had explored the entirety of the map already. After thoroughly checking the map overview, I found the Cave of Echoes in Misty Shores. The exact location for this is in the bottom left corner, just west of Orlock’s Mansion.
An easier way to find this cave is to go to your farm; I suggest continuing straight down to the mansion, then entering the beach beside it. After that, travel to the left to find the cave entrance. You can’t access this area unless you have completed the Bridge Too Far main quest during Day 4 and fixed the bridge.
How to Mine Copper
The Cave of Echoes is home to several copper nodes, and you can easily identify them by checking out the orange mineral sticking out from the rocks. You might commonly find just one rock with a cluster of copper nodes on it, or you can spot larger boulders with multiple copper clusters. I recommend prioritizing the larger clusters over smaller ones, as they give the maximum copper output after mining them.
You can mine copper nodes using the basic rusty pickaxe that you get at the start of the game. If you want to upgrade your tools, you can visit Ridge’s Howling Hammer to upgrade the pickaxe to its copper, iron, and gold variants. Of course, you will require the right materials and coins to upgrade your pickaxe, as shown below.

Having an upgraded pickaxe will allow you to access areas that are otherwise blocked off. One such area is just north of your farm, where you need to break the larger rocks with an iron or gold pickaxe to find another secret cave.
How to Complete A Croak and a Crest Quest
If you have visited Yabbis at Howling Marshes, then he will tell you that he has eaten the elusive crest you are looking for. In exchange for the crest, he requires one copper bar. If you haven’t been paying attention, he asks for a bar and not an ore, so you can’t run back to him after mining copper.
You can check the map overview inside the Cave of Echoes to mark where copper ores are. Once you have a handful of copper ores, head back to your home and sleep. If you can’t carry all the copper back, then return after upgrading your backpack at Sabrina’s store; Webb of Wonders will help you carry more items. After a day passes, check your in-game mail to find the Furnace blueprint.
To build a furnace, you will require
- 15x copper ore
- 5x refined stone
You can get refined stone by tossing stones inside the refiner. Once you have the required materials to build the furnace, go ahead and place it at your base. Then, add wood into the furnace to get coal first. After that, add the following materials to get Copper Bars.
- 4x copper ore
- 1x charcoal
Return to Yabbis with the copper bars after that to complete his questline. You can keep any extra copper bars for future upgrades or sell them at the market.

Selling 1 copper bar will give you 30 gold at the market, but you are better off using it for upgrades around your base than selling it.
