MHS3 – How To Unlock All Invasive Monsters

By Sagnik AdhikaryMarch 14, 20267 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • There are nine Invasive/Endangered Monsters you can unlock in Monster Hunter Stories 3.
    • These nine monsters are spread throughout four regions: Azuria. Canalta Timberland. Tarkuan and Serathis.
    • To defeat these Invasive Monsters and unlock them, you need to pick up the clue in their territory and deploy specific moves.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection features an impressive coterie of monsters, including Invasive Monsters or Endangered Species that you can save and add to your collection of monsters. Before you can unlock them though, you need to defeat them in a specific way, which can involve delivering certain movies or using specific Monsties.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 – All Invasive Monsters Overview

    Invasive Monsters overview in MHS3.
Number of Invasive MonstersNine, divided into four regions.
    Azuria Invasive Monsters3
    Canalta Timberland Invasive Monsters3
    Tarkuan Invasive Monsters2
    Serathis Invasive Monsters1

    1. All Azuria Invasive Monsters

    I. Invasive Seregios

First Invasive Monster location in MHS3.

The Invasive Seregios is located at the northwest tip of Azuria, in the Mirror Lake area. Fast-travel to the Mirror Lake Catavan Stand and swim to the water body northeast of the island to use the updraft. Use any flying mount to travel northwest at the top of the cliff, as shown in the image above, to find this Invasive Monster.

This boss battle requires a specific trick: you need to use Perfect Strike with a Hammer to win a Head-to-Head when the monster roars. Seregios changes colors when it roars, and depending on the color it switches to, you need to deploy the correct move to win a Head-to-Head. Here’s what you need to do:

    • Blue: Use Perfect Strike with Technical.
    • Green: Use Perfect Strike with Power.
    • Red: Use Perfect Strike with Speed.

Seregios will make a quick run towards you after roaring and target your party, so watch out and use the correct move to win the Head-to-Head. Once you’ve dealt with this Invasive Monster, you’ll unlock the Endangered Species Astalos.

    II. Invasive Plesioth

Second Invasive Monster location in MHS3.

For this Invasive Monster, head to the Mirror Lake Catavan Stand and go north through the narrow channel on the map, which will lead you to an underground cavern. Here, you’ll find the Invasive Plesioth swimming around, waiting for you.

The trick to beating Invasive Plesioth is to use Fire-element attacks when it’s in its Invasive or Endangered state. Start spamming Fire attacks at this Invasive Monster’s head as soon as it switches to its Invasive state, and you’ll take care of the boss in no time. Defeating this boss will unlock the Endangered Species Lagiacrus.

    III. Invasive Yian Garuga

    Third Invasive Monster in MHS3.

The Invasive Yian Garuga might be one of the first Invasive Monsters you meet in Monster Hunter Stories 3. You’ll find this monster while progressing through Act 1, Chapter 6 in the Sunpetal Plains in Azuria. All you have to do to repel this creature is break its legs, which is doable with a Long Sword or a Great Sword. Once you defeat them, you’ll obtain Rathian.

    2. All Canalta Timberland Invasive Monsters

    I. Invasive Nerscylla

Fourth Invasive Monster location in MHS3.

The Invasive Nerscylla is located in the southeast corner of the Canalta Timberland. At Camp: Blessing Hill, use a flying mount to head east until you reach a narrow path that leads to Invasive Monster territory. Follow the river all the way down ahead to find the Invasive Nerscylla.

For this boss battle, you need Gunlance’s Wyvern Fire Skill, since it’s the only way to repel this creature. Conserve your Stamina to use this Skill when Nerscylla uses a red cone-shaped line attack to target you during stealth, since Gunlance is a slow-moving weapon. After defeating this Invasive Monster, you’ll unlock the Endangered Species Nargacuga.

    II. Invasive Shogun Ceanataur

Fifth Invasive Monster location in MHS3.

To find Invasive Shogun Ceanataur in Monster Hunter Stories 3, start at Camp: Howlinyowl Forest and head east until you reach the river. Follow the river to the north until you notice a waterfall straight ahead. Walk straight through the waterfall to find a hidden cave, inside which you’ll find this Invasive Monster.

To counter this Invasive Monster, you need to focus on your Defense rather than your Offence, since your attacks won’t make a dent in the Shogun. When this creature targets a member of your party, whether it’s a human or a monster, apply Armorskin or Mega Armorskin to the targeted ally immediately. This will cause the Shogun to retreat, and you’ll obtain the Endangered Species Mizutsune.

    III. Invasive Arzuros

Sixth Invasive Monster location in MHS3.

You’ll find Invasive Arzuros at Blessing Hill on the southern tip of Canalta Timberland. Head to the river and follow the path next to it, southeast of the Blessing Hill Catavan Stand, to find this creature. All you have to do is ensure that this boss runs out of honey, which is done by eliminating the other Arzuros it spawns mid-battle.

Once it runs out of honey, it’ll flee the battleground, and you’ll get access to the Endangered Paolumu.

    3. All Tarkuan Invasive Monsters

    I. Invasive Odogaron

Seventh Invasive Monster location in MHS3.

You’ll need a Climbing Monstie to find the Invasive Odogaron in Monster Hunter Stories 3. To locate this Invasive Monster, head to Rococo Rocks Catavan Stand and head south to the updraft. Use it to glide northwest, in the opposite direction, and reach for the open ledge located in the high cliff. Follow the path ahead to find the Invasive Odogaron.

To defeat this Invasive Monster, you need to use Water-based attacks. So, use Almudron’s Muddy Hell move to surround this boss with mud for a set number of turns. The surrounding mud will deal Water damage over time, causing Odogaron to slip during its Crimson Claw move, ending the fight. From the Endangered Egg, you’ll obtain an Endangered Zinogre.

    II. Invasive Diablos

Eighth Invasive Monster location in MHS3.

The final Invasive Monster in the Tarkuan region is the Invasive Diablos, and you need a Climbing Monstie for this one as well. This creature is located inside a canyon in the southern part of Colossal Dragon’s Remains in Tarkuan.

Head to Lookout Point: Rococo Rocks Catavan Stand and glide southeast while sticking to the eastern edge to find the canyon entrance. Follow the path until you reach a dead end, then use the Climbing Monstie to scale the canyon and locate the Invasive Diablos.

To repel this Invasive Monster, equip a Hammer with a Meteor Skill. When Diablos creates three holes on the ground, conserve your Stamina as you’ll need it to use the Hammer when the creature comes out of the hole. Determining which hole it’ll come out of is tricky, but it’s generally the right hole. As soon as it pops out, hit the hole with the Meteor Skill, which will cause Diablos to retreat to its den.

It’s worth noting that Diablos will not come out of the same hole twice, so even if you miss the creature on your first try, keep hitting the same hole since it’s bound to exit that specific hole at least once during the battle. Once you’ve defeated this Invasive Monster, you’ll unlock the Endangered Species Tigrex.

    4. All Serathis Invasive Monsters

    I. Invasive Khezu

Ninth Invasive Monster location in MHS3.

Fortunately, the Serathis region features only one Invasive Monster, the Invasive Khezu. This creature is located at the northern tip of the Glacial Caps iceberg area in the Serathis region. From the Lookout Point, head northeast to the top of the rock formations, near the pink jellyfish, until you reach an opening between the cliffs. That’s where you’ll find the Invasive Khezu.

Counter Khezu’s Head-to-Head with Technical Attacks and then Power Attacks until it activates the Wyvern’s Soul Eater attack. Ensure that your Kinship Gauge is filled up and you’re mounted before Khezu performs this move, so you can deliver a Kinship supermove to cancel Khezu’s Wyvern’s Soul attack. Defeating this Invasive Monster will unlock the Endangered Berioth.
