How Does the Cube Work
The Cube offers a lot more functions than what you see in the overview. In my opinion, the Cube is a crucial component of the game, as you can do a lot more than turn items into gold. You can also craft new gear or upgrade existing ones. To use the cube efficiently, you need to learn all the functions of the cube first.
How does Synthesis Work
By default, your cube will be set to synthesizing from the get-go. What this does is that if you place several different items of the same rarity but different levels, you will get a random item within this lot but with a higher rarity. There is a chance that the rarity applied to the item will skip a few tiers if you are lucky.
The only thing that won’t be affected by the synthesis is the item’s level, as it depends on the level of your Cube. If you check the top section of the Cube, with each action performed in the Cube, you can earn points to level it up. The higher the level of the Cube, the higher the level of the item.
How does Alchemy Work
Performing Alchemy is the only way to convert items into gold. You will require gold to unlock Runes in the Runes tree. As you send your heroes out to work, you will find several duplicates that you need to get rid of and free up some space.
Sending these items to the Cube and using Alchemy is a great way to get gold in return. To know how much gold you will get by converting an item, check the bottom of the Alchemy menu to see the total gold amount.
How does Crafting Work
As the name suggests, using the Cube for crafting supplies new items to equip on your heroes. After clicking on the central icon, you will get several crafting options. What I liked to do was pick the Accessories option, since obtaining accessories during runs is exceptionally harder than crafting them.
The rarity and class of the item crafted will be random, and like items in Synthesis, the item’s level will be dependent on your Cube’s level. The higher the tier of your crafting materials, the higher the tier of your crafted item.
How does Decoration, Engraving, and Inscription Work
The above three features in the Cube will add certain perks and stat boosts to your gear. All you need to do is add the gear in question within the Cube after selecting any of these functions. Then, you need to add the required decoration, engraving, or inscription material. Each decoration, engraving, or inscription will offer different traits, so check them out in your inventory once your heroes have collected them in the overworld.
How does Removal Work
In case you don’t like any of the slotted decoration, inscription, or engraving on your gear, use this function to get rid of it. All you need to do is add the item that requires removal, then select the slot that should be empty. Removing items from gear will come with a price tag, so make sure you have some spare change lying around. Also, once the item is removed, it will be destroyed, and you can’t reuse it for any other gear.

You need to keep playing and leveling up to unlock all features of the Cube. Plus, unlocking features will require some gold.
Is it best to synthesize or alchemize?
Early in the game, you will require gold to unlock Runes, so your priority should be to perform alchemy frequently until you have unlocked a decent amount of features. After that, you can level up your gear to make your heroes stronger.
How do I unlock Synthesis levels?
By leveling up your Cube, you can further unlock new Synthesis levels to level up your gear accordingly.
What does the Offering function do?
It is unclear what this option does in the Cube, but it could collect rare loot from boss drops and chests and convert it into legendary gear.
Why can’t I remove the decoration from my gear?
Make sure that you do not have the gear equipped before putting it down for removal.
