Hytale – How To Unlock Memories

By Jordan BlakeJanuary 14, 20264 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • Memories are a core progression system in Hytale that unlock crafting recipes and rewards.
    • To access Memories, players must locate and enter the Forgotten Temple early in their world.
    • Unlocking Memories requires interacting with a special statue deep inside the temple after dealing with a guarding enemy.

If you are looking to unlock some rewards in Hytale, the easiest way to do that is through the Memory system. But if you are wondering how to unlock it, read on to learn all the steps.

    Hytale Memories Overview

    Where to unlockThe Forgotten Temple
Memory types18 categories and 240 species
    Rewards5 milestones at 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 total memories

Memories in Hytale act as a record of the creatures, NPCs, and entities you encounter during your journey. As you explore the world, observing different beings allows you to collect these Memories. Once saved, they contribute toward milestones that unlock crafting recipes, new items, and gameplay features such as additional teleportation options.

However, you cannot begin collecting Memories right away. The system must first be unlocked by visiting a specific landmark known as the Forgotten Temple.

How To Unlock Memories in Hytale

How To Unlock Memories in Hytale

Follow these steps to unlock the Memories feature early in your playthrough:

Step 1: Locate the Forgotten Temple

    • Open your map and look for a distinctive marker on the map or a large, cross-shaped ruined structure.
    • The Forgotten Temple always spawns relatively close to your starting location, though its exact position varies with each world seed.
    • For convenience, place a marker on the temple so it appears on your compass.

Step 2: Battle at the Forgotten Temple

    • Before heading inside, make sure you are armed with a weapon. Beginner-level weapons, like a crude sword or axe, will also do the job.
    • Enter the temple and spot a staircase leading below on the left side. You’ll find a glowing blue portal and a golem in front of it.
    • Now you have multiple options. You can choose to fight the golem to the death. A tip would be to enter the water body present there and then attack the golem, as it will be unable to attack you (not sure if it is a bug or an attribute of the golem).
    • You can also choose to move very quickly to the left. As the golem starts chasing you, circle behind him and rush to the portal. Once you are inside the portal, the golem will not chase you.

Step 3: Interacting with the Heart of Orbis

    • On entering the portal, you’ll find a glowing statue straight ahead.
    • Travel to it and press F to unlock the Memories feature. A confirmation message will appear, indicating that Memories can now be collected.
    • After unlocking the system, simply approach creatures, NPCs, and enemies during your travels to gather Memories.
    • But to save these memories, you have to regularly return to the Heart of Orbis.
