How to Start Playing Nokturna
Nokturna is a turn-based card game that can be played with most residents in Moonlight Peaks. Currently in the demo, you can speak to Olivia, Death, and Dragan, but more characters can join in during full release. Dragan will be the easier character to find, as he is located near the Midnight Market at night.
If you can’t find him, then head over to the Coffee and Coffins coffee shop to find Death and challenge him instead. Once you find any of the characters, speak to them and select the option to Invite them to a game of Nokturna. This will start the round, where you get to learn the basics of the game and test your strategy.
How to Play Nokturna

The end goal of Nokturna is to get the highest score before the match ends. Each match contains three rounds, and the participant who wins two or more rounds’ wins. To win a round, you need to place high-value cards that will be totaled up over time. You can check the value of your card on top of each card. All cards will have fixed values, and you will start off with just three cards in your deck.
To get more cards, you need to win a match against your opponent to get them as rewards. Don’t worry if you lose the round, as you can always play again. Once the round has started, place your cards and check your total points on the left side of the screen. Your opponent will also put down their cards alongside, and you can check their points too.
Tips to Win
After completing a turn, I recommend trying to put down the next card with a higher value than the card your opponent had placed to get a higher point. I would also suggest drawing new cards and adding them to your setup whenever you can.
Regardless of the value of the card, you might get some really exquisite cards that can turn the match in your favor. If you are lucky, you will also get a random Ability Card, but your opponent could get them too. Ability Cards are powerful cards that can add buffs or debuffs to you or your opponent.
Ability Cards Explained
Ability Cards will appear randomly during a round, and these cards will have a unique diamond marking right on top of them. After putting down an Ability Card, the effects of the card will be applied during that turn. These effects will vary depending on the card, like getting a card that allows you to draw more cards, or having a card returned to you at the end of the round.
You can always examine your cards before putting them on the table. Hover the cursor on a card you wish to deal with to read more about it. This will give you a better idea of whether to keep this card for later or use it right away.
