Some quests in Gothic 1 Remake are quite easy to follow. If you wish to be included as part of the Old Camp, you need to follow the main story quest and complete a handful of side quests. While speaking to Thorus, he will tell you about a merchant called Mordrag who is causing trouble, and he needs your help to kick Mordrag out of town.

How to Complete the Out of Sight Quest
Mordrag will be introduced during the Out of Sight side quest as part of the Admission to the Old Camp main story quest in Chapter 1. This is an optional side quest, so if you choose to do it, you need to make a choice about sparing or killing Mordrag. To start the Out of Sight quest, make your way to the castle entrance to the Old Camp and speak to Thorus.
If you have exhausted your dialog options and didn’t learn anything about Mordrag, make sure you have started the Admission to the Old Camp quest by speaking to Diego. Then, return to Thorus to get additional dialog options. Keep going through the dialogs until you are tasked with finding Mordrag.
Kill or Spare Mordrag
You will find Mordrag at the southern exit of Old Camp. From Thorus’ location, head east and follow the path until Mordrag himself calls out for you. If he doesn’t look around for a man slouched over on a bench outside a hut.
Killing Mordrag
If you wish to kill Mordrag, pick the option that the camp is too small, and you want him gone. This will start an outright battle with you against Mordrag. The only hint I can give you here is to take this fight slow and be cautious of his moves.
He will use his mace to take two swings at you. Jump back to avoid his swings, then jump forward and hit him with your weapon one time before moving backwards again. Once his health is less than half, he will start taking three swings at you instead of two. Move backwards three times and hit him once.
Keep doing this until he is down, after which you can loot his body for Mordrag’s Ring, his Sting Mace weapon, a Longbow, and other miscellaneous items like consumables and lockpics. If he is still alive, speak to him again after he gets up, and he will tell you that he is leaving the camp for good. Return to Thorus to complete the quest.
Spare Mordrag
If you wish to learn more about New Camp, then pick the option where Mordrag has a problem. Then ask him to tell you more about New Camp and if you can join him. He will agree to take you to New Camp, so follow through with the rest of the quest until your map updates with the new area. He will give you the Mordrag’s Ring quest item, and you can head back to Thorus to complete the quest.
Best Choice
There are no best choices to pick here, as the quest requires you to get Mordrag out of the camp. This is possible with both choices, but I personally prefer to let Mordrag take me to New Camp. This was the best choice for me, and I got to unlock a new area relatively early in the game, plus Mordrag helped kill off any enemy encounters while on the way to New Camp.

Can I kill Mordrag while being escorted to New Camp?
Yes, you can kill him while near or inside New Camp, too. Killing him inside New Camp after obtaining his ring will grant you additional experience points on top of the experience points you have obtained after getting the ring from him. But killing him inside New Camp will also be highly challenging.
Will unlocking New Camp lock me out of visiting Old Camp?
No, unlocking New Camp during this quest will just uncover the area, but it won’t hamper your progress with Old Camp or Swamp Camp.
What are my rewards for completing the quest?
You will get 200 XP from Mordrag if you choose to be escorted to New Camp. If you kill him after reaching New Camp, you can earn an additional 200 XP on top of it. If you kill Mordrag in Old Camp, you will get just 100 XP and no extra XP from him. Plus, you will gain 250 XP from Thorus after completing the quest.
