Subnautica 2 – How to Get Power at Night

By Kirthana KMay 18, 20264 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • Using the Power Storage is the only way to power up your base at night.
    • You need to collect two Power Storage fragments found around the overworld to get the blueprint.
    • Once unlocked, you can build the Power Storage using the Habitat Builder.

Early in Subnautica 2, you will be relying more on solar panels for power. But that won’t last too long, especially if you wish to run your machines at night too. That’s where the Power Storage comes in, where you get to power up your base day and night.

How to Get the Power Storage

Utilizing a power storage will help your base function at night, helping with production even when the sun is down. If you were like me and were relying more on solar panels for power, then you need to get the power storage ASAP. To get the power storage, you need to unlock a few different pieces of equipment first.

You need to have either the Sonic Resonator or its advanced form, the Feedback Resonator. Along with that, you will require the Heat Tolerance adaptation too. With that, you can be on your way to collect the two Power Storage fragments.

    First Power Storage Fragment Location

The first Power Storage fragment is found within Nahema’s Lab. If you haven’t found this location yet, head southwest at 210 – 240 meters from the Lifepod. You will soon reach a drop point where you need to dive down to 85 meters. Look around to find a hatch and enter it. Once inside, use your scanner on the wall on your right to find the first fragment to the Power Storage.

    Second Power Storage Fragment Location

You will automatically find this fragment while completing the Investigate Tadpole Pens quest. If you haven’t completed this quest yet, I recommend having an Air Bladder to get a steady supply of oxygen. Then, head out 105 – 120 east to southeast from the Lifepod, then dive down to 30 meters. You will eventually come across a ravine below. Keep going down to 70 meters, then head south to southeast at 165 meters.

Keep diving downwards, and at 120 meters, you will find a large gaping hole. Enter the hole and travel north – northeast at 15 – 30 meters at 211 meters depth. Enter the cave entrance to your left and keep going. There are plenty of air bubbles here, so use them to replenish some oxygen. Keep going east, then drops down to 243 meters while facing 210 southwest. Enter the opening in the cliff wall and continue downwards. You will find Zip’s Blackbox to get the “Kurul Level Access Code”.

After that, from your Lifepod, head directly east. At a depth of 40 meters, you will find wreckage. Continue to dive deeper from there, and at 150 meters depth is the Tadpole ped to enter. Go through it and go left to enter the passcode to the locked door. After gaining access to the locked area, check the wall immediately to your left after entering to find the second Power Storage fragment.

    Crafting the Power Storage

The Power Storage is crafted at the Habitat Builder. Once you have the Habitat Builder at your base, you need to feed it the following materials to get the Power Storage.

    • Germanium Ingot x1
    • Titanium x3
    • Salt x2

Once done, you get to place this structure around your base and power it up without the help of solar panels.

    Is Power Storage required?

Yes, with the Power Storage, you get to supply power to your base at nighttime.

Are there other places where the Power Storage fragment might spawn?
