Subnautica 2 – How to Get the Dive Elevator

By Kirthana KMay 18, 20264 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • The Dive Elevator can be stacked to help reach the highest or lowest points of the ocean.
    • You can get the Dive Elevator after locating two fragment pieces for the blueprint.
    • Then, you will require the Habitat Builder to craft the Dive Elevator.

If you wish to scale deeper areas while conserving your energy, then the Dive Elevator in Subnautica 2 will help you out. With this unique contraption, you can make your way to the highest points and the lowest depths of the ocean floor in no time.

How to Unlock the Dive Elevator

Like most structures in the game, you need to collect the fragment pieces first to unlock the whole blueprint. There are two fragments you need to collect for the Dive Elevator, and you can find them quickly in the following locations.

    Dive Elevator Fragment 1 Location

I found the first Dive Elevator fragment while heading east from the Lifepod. Keep going until you reach the alien power plant. From the power plant, dive down to the depths of around 382 meters.

You will find a recording on a cliff, which, when picked up, will give you the Anita recording. Right beside the recording is a zipline going upwards. Follow the zipline to find the Dive Elevator. Use your scanner to scan it and get the first fragment.

    Dive Elevator Fragment 2 Location

The next part required the Depth Module Mk. 1 and Engine Efficiency for the Tadpole to make my journey easier. With that, travel east again from the Lifepod and continue east at 2000 meters. I would also recommend carrying some consumables to keep your health and oxygen up.

Once ready, continue onwards until you reach the Alterra Starship Wreck. From there, travel north – northeast while diving down to 239 meters. You will eventually find the second Dive Elevator fragment here.

    Crafting the Dive Elevator

Once you have the fragments, you will also require the Habitat Builder. If you don’t have this structure yet, you can find two of the fragments close by.

    • The first fragment is found 75 degrees to the east of the Lifepod. You will spot two cave entrances on a rock formation at around 5 meters depth. Enter the cave entrance to the right and dive down to the Metal Salvage and pick up the fragment under it.
    • The second fragment is located 150 degrees to the southeast of the Lifepod. You will reach the Welcome Center, and if you check the hatch entrance, you will find the second fragment.

Once you have both fragments for the Dive Elevator and the Habitat Builder, go to the Fabricator. The required materials for crafting are:

    • Titanium x2
    • Glass x1
    • Basic Battery x1
    • Copper Wire x1

After obtaining all materials, use the Habitat Fabricator. Feed in 4x Titanium, 2x Copper, and 2x Quartz to build and activate the Dive Elevator.

    Using the Dive Elevator

The Dive Elevator is a great structure to help you dive deeper into the ocean without the help of the Tadpole. I found the best places to use the Dive Elevator are in areas where I had to ascend or descend quickly. Stacking multiple Dive Elevators will help scale larger depths, which helped me get to the highest or lowest points on the ocean floor.

Ideally, you’ll place the Dive Elevator above a large drop-off in the map, allowing you to instantly descend to lower depths without having to swim or take your Tadpole. The Dive Elevator can take you 25 meters down, but you can stack multiple Dive Elevators on top of or below one another to descend as low as you want.

It is best used when farming resources at locations that will take you a lot of time to reach. By simply placing a couple of Dive Elevators, you can quickly transport materials from the depths to the higher points of the ocean.

    FAQs

Is there a limit to how many Dive Elevators I can place?

No, as long as you have enough materials to craft Dive Elevators, you can stack as many as you wish.

Can I get the Dive Elevator early?

Yes, the above fragment locations can be found very early in the game, and the materials for crafting it is quite easy to find.

Can I use the Dive Elevator during strong currents?

Yes, the Dive Elevator is quite useful during strong up and down currents.
