Key Points
- Metal is a requirement to build late-game structures in All Will Fall
- Early in the game, unlocking the metal crane and the metal gathering hut will help farm metal.
- Using detonators on concrete walls, metal girders, and water vents will also help you gather metal.
Building your city above the sea is your core objective in All Will Fall. As you advance through the research tree to unlock better equipment and structures, you will find that metal is a necessary requirement in the game. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of metal to be found in the vast open sea, so you need to get creative and find ways to gather it by unlocking the right type of research.

How to Farm Metal

Farming metal in early games was a bit of a chore for me personally, but metal is a necessary item to craft several items later in the game. I thought my only option to get metal was to salvage metal manually, and doing so would probably take up a large chunk of my time.
But while scrolling through the research tree, some of the research skills that help gather metal caught my eye. In Tier 3 of the Gathering tab, you will find two unique skills to unlock: the metal crane and the metal gathering hut.
None of the above two research skills requires metal to crafting them, but they do help in gathering metal. With the metal crane, you can salvage items below directly beneath it. This includes all resources like wood, junk, and metal. Building this structure will not cost any metal, which is a great starting point to gather metal early on.
If you still require larger amounts of metal, then unlock the metal gathering hut next. Within this, assign workers to salvage metal from junk and scraps. You can also manually select items that require salvaging and assign your workers to tear them down.
Lastly, you will spot broken concrete walls and other metal structures while checking out new cities. Use bombs to detonate them and gather metal.
How to Use Metal
Metal is a core requirement to build late-game structures. Besides building metal houses, you can also build energy-supplying items like the Metal Wind Turbine or even get the Metal Smelter and Metal Dredger.
You will also get the option to build the new Metal Ship, which will take you even further along at sea and take minimal damage. All in all, using metal is a great way to advance through the game and get better building structures for your civilians.

FAQs
Will my workers break down metal foundations if I assign them to the metal gathering hut?
No, workers will only dismantle scraps and junk. In the off chance that they do end up dismantling structures, you can manually select which items require scavenging to set workers on the right path.
My workers aren’t gathering any metal. What do I do?
Make sure that the path set out for them is clear of debris and obstacles. If they aren’t working even after that, then you might need to do a quick restart to see if it helps.
I can’t unlock the metal crane or the metal gathering hut. What do I do?
You need to unlock one of the structures from the previous tier in the research tree to unlock the next tier and get the metal crane and metal gathering hut.
