Key Points
- You can obtain the Tech Gloves by taking down the Steelwing (Ironwing REN-X) in Crimson Desert.
- Before you find the Steelwing, you must solve the puzzle at the Gate to Advancement.
- Taking down the Steelwing requires you to stab and destroy six Glass Devices on each of its wings.
The Tech Gloves in Crimson Desert are the perfect item for players tired of running into locked doors without having any Keys to open them. However, for an item as vital as this, you need to solve a puzzle, do some platforming, and take down a giant aircraft. I urge you to stock up on Stamina food and Health food before you attempt this quest. You’re gonna need them.

Crimson Desert – Solve the Gate to Advancement Puzzle

Before we get to the fun part of this Crimson Desert journey, you need to solve a puzzle inside the Gate to Advancement, located on top of Mount Benus in the Delesyia region. Head to the location as shown in the image above, and walk inside the structure to interact with the puzzle.

Equip the Visione Helmet to activate the puzzle. Without it, you won’t be able to attempt it. The puzzle is simple; rotate the dials until they’re completely aligned. This teleports you to the Skypillar Archipelago after a long loading screen.

At the Skypillar Archipelago, climb onto the middle of the doorway to your right and use the Force Palm skill as you did during the first Abyss puzzle. If, by some miracle, you’re unfamiliar with how to unlock the Force Palm skill, complete the “Abyss Without Balance” quest.
Locate the Steelwing

I recommend saving the game here since locating the Steelwing might take a couple of tries. While you’re at it, activate the fast-travel in this location too, so you can retry if you fail. Walk through the door, activate the pressure plate, then drop down to the platform below.

Head right again and start gliding. Here’s the part where you’ll need the Stamina food to glide further. Stamina depletes pretty quickly when gliding, but you can consume Stamina food mid-flight. Shortly after, you’ll be teleported to the Delesyia Territory. The Steelwing will be flying right below you.
Now, this took me a couple of tries, because the Steelwing can be in different positions along its routes. It’s constantly moving, so you may not catch your flight on the first try. However, you’ll typically find it while gliding to the right from the Skypillar Archipelago.
After you locate the Steelwing, land on top of it. You’ll notice several smaller Steelwings surrounding the main one. You might be unsuccessful a couple of times, and that’s fine if you saved the game earlier. Load it up and retry from there.
Destroy the Glass Devices on the Wings and Open the Hatch

As soon as you land on top of it, the game will prompt you to destroy the Glass Devices on the Steelwing, a.k.a the green shield bubbles protecting a unit. You can easily destroy them by crouching and using the Stab skill. I recommend crouching for better stability, since the Steelwing’s movement can topple you at any time.
In the middle of it all, you’ll be bombarded with bullets from turrets and the other smaller Steelwings. Here’s where the Health food will come into play. There are three Glass Devices on each wing of the aircraft. You need to destroy all six to open the Steelwing’s hatch in Crimson Desert.
Upon destroying the Glass Devices, the turrets will set their sights on you. Make sure you’re stocked up on Health food, as these turrets can deplete your health pretty quickly.
Destroy the Core of Steelwing

With all six Glass Devices destroyed, the Steelwing’s hatch will open. This is located in the middle of the Steelwing’s body. Enter the hatch and use the Stab skill to destroy the Steelwing once and for all. This will trigger a cutscene, with Kliff jumping off the Steelwing and landing on a shore nearby.

Once the cutscene ends, you’ll automatically obtain the Tech Gloves in Crimson Desert. Open your inventory to equip these Gloves. You can use the Tech Gloves to unlock any door. While it can be used infinitely, it has a 10-minute cooldown, which is a fair trade-off.
