This side quest is fairly easy, and the rewards are worth it. You just need to collect four village reports (there are a total of 5) to complete it. The main reward here is the Sard Charm, created by merging the two Broken Sards you collect during the quest. It boosts your Fatal Time duration and increases stealth shot damage.

Fatal Frame 2 Remake Masumi Makimura Side Quest Guide
Follow the steps given below to complete the Masumi Makimura side quest:
- After I completed the Miyako Sudo side story, there was a spirit leaving the Osaka House. It will drop a note near the entrance.
- On picking up the note, the Masumi Makimura side quest started, and I obtained the first half of the Broken Sard. The quest tasks you with finding four village reports.
- The first report is present at Minakami Village Fork Road (toward Kureha Shrine) at the feet of the Statue Investigator spirit.
- The second report is present between Tsuchihara House and the Octagonal Door building, next to a well.
- The third report will be dropped by a spirit that I spotted at the entrance of Kureha Shrine.
- For the final report, you need to return to Misono Hill, where Miyako Sudo was found.
- Once all four reports are collected, you’ll automatically receive Village Report 5.
- With all five reports, head over to Kurosawa House. In the Main Hall, use the Radiant Filter to unlock a sealed door.
- Enter the room and use the Exposure Filter to capture a spirit present there. It will drop a Bloody Memo and Bloody Ring afterwards.
- Upon returning to the Main Hall, Masumi Makimura attacks you. You need to defeat him and return to the Osaka House.
- Once you reach Osaka House, head over to the Back Room. This triggers a cutscene, followed by a dual boss fight against Miyako Sudo and Masumi Makimura.
- If you manage to defeat them, the second half of the Broken Sard is dropped.
The two Broken Sards combine into the Sard Charm. This charm increases Fatal Time duration and boosts damage from stealth shots.
