Exploring new areas in Pokémon Pokopia can unlock some surprisingly useful features if you know where to look. And one good way to explore new places is using Drifloon. You can actually recruit Drifloon very early in the game and use it to explore Dream Islands. Read on to learn how to do it.
How to get Drifloon in Pokémon Pokopia
You can find Drifloon in the Withered Wasteland, which is one of the first areas you explore in the game. Follow these steps to recruit it:
- Head left from the Pokémon Center towards brown walled structure in front of the sea . You can either climb over from the side or use the Rock Smash ability. I will recommend using the Rock Smash ability as it makes the passage easier for Drifloon to follow you.
- Once you are near the sea, Drifloon will be present near the sea shore, as shown in the image above. Talk to Drifloon and offer to make a home for him.
- Drifloon requires three bonfires as its habitat, so craft three bonfires and get Charmander to set them on fire. I found Charmander in the green area Withered Wasteland right in front of the Pokémon Center.
- With the Drifloon habitat ready, once again you need to go back to the sea and convince Drifloon to follow you to its new home. Also if it’s raining, the bonfires can’t be lit, so you may need to wait for clear weather.
- After you have taken Drifloon to its habitat, it will offer to take you new places but in exchange it wants Human or Poké Dolls to get a kick of energy.
- During the interaction, Drifloon will itself guide you towards the first Poké Doll you can find.
Finding the Poké Dolls and showing them to Drifloon will be a key step for you to travel to Dream Islands.
How to go to Dream Islands in Pokémon Pokopia
With Drifloon pointing you in the direction of the first Poké Doll, follow the steps given below to travel to a Dream Island:
- Head over to the location Drifloon pointed you towards and use the Rock Smash ability to start making a passage.
- While breaking the walls, you will notice a block with a golden sparkle at the right side.
- Breaking the block reveals an Eevee Doll, which you can give to Drifloon.
- With the doll in inventory, go talk to Drifloon and show it the Eevee Doll.
- Next select the, “I wanna go to a Dream Island” quote to make Drifloon take you to a Dream Island.
Drifloon will now offer to carry you to a Dream Island. The Eevee Doll took me to a Wasteland Dream Island. On finding different types of Human or Poké Dolls, your Dream Island destination will keep on changing. But do note that you can only visit one Dream Island per day.

Why can’t I visit a Dream Island again?
Dream Islands can only be visited once per in-game day. If Drifloon isn’t taking you there again, you’ll need to wait until the next day before traveling to another Dream Island.
What happens if it keeps raining when lighting the bonfires?
Rain prevents the bonfires from lighting. Wait for clear weather or leave the area and return later.
