While learning how to attack with a Half Sword is important, what’s equally important is to learn how to defend yourself. As you progress through the tournament, you get to collect armor pieces that offer varying protection. Initially, the instructions on how to obtain armor are unclear, and it becomes even more confusing if you have some armor but don’t know how to use it.

How to Get Armor
There are two ways to get armor: by purchasing it from the merchant or looting them off fallen enemies.
Buying from Merchants
For the first method, head over to the Inn before starting a match and check out the Merchant’s wares. It will cost some money to get the required armor, so check your gold to see if you can afford it. At higher levels, you will get better armor to purchase from the store.
Looting Enemies
As for getting armor off enemies, after an enemy is downed, walk up to them and hold on to a body part that you want to strip the armor off. Press and hold down either the Q key or the E key, depending on which hand you are using, to remove the armor piece from the corpse.
How to Equip Armor
If you are holding the armor piece in your hand, just press Q/E, depending on which hand is holding the armor piece, to equip it. Sometimes, some of the armor pieces cannot be equipped on your character. To fix that, you will require an Arming Tunic or Arming Doublet that has its chains removed from the Armorer menu. This will allow you to equip armor pieces like vambraces and spaulders more efficiently.
