Each time you try to craft something in Solarpunk, you need to find the right materials. Eventually, you need to trade a special item with the Tradebot, and for that, you will require Truffles.

How to Get Truffles
The strangest item I had to farm was truffles, as I couldn’t find them in the wild. Rather, I had to own a particular animal to get Truffles as a drop. First, let’s build a pig shelter, which unlocks at research tier 6. To unlock Tier 6 research, you need to find 1x Sunflower. Tier 6 research also unlocks the Seed Pack, so don’t forget to get that too.
After unlocking the Pig Shelter, you need to build it using 10x Wood and 4x Sticks. Put it down on an empty plot at your base and place a food and water trough alongside it. Add some animal feed and gather water with your watering can to fill up the trough. You could also build a fence around the enclosure, or leave it as is.
Building the Animal Transport Drone
Visit the Tradebot and interact with the Research Table here. You need to work on clearing all the research under Tier 1 until you get to Tier 2. Unlock Tier 2 as well and use 1x Blueprint to unlock the Animal Transport station. With the blueprint unlocked, visit the Energy Crafting Station to build the Animal Transport drone and docking station. Building the Animal Transport requires the following.
- 20x Iron
- 15x Silicon
- 10x Copper
- 5x Leaf
How to Get Pigs
I found a pig in Golden Mid, just north of the starting island. But this isn’t the only spawn point for the pig. While exploring Chair Island and Lower Nice, north of the starting island, I could find a pig in each of these islands, too. Of course, you need to upgrade your airship to reach the islands far off from your starter island. Once you find a pig on any of these islands, bring out your Animal Transport drone.
Interact with the pig and select the transport drone on the list to teleport it home. The pig will be added to the Pig Shelter, and all you need to do now is keep it fed and healthy. After a while, check the basket beside the shelter to find a truffle in it from time to time. The more pigs you own, the faster you get to farm truffles from them.
How to Use Truffles
Eventually, after trading several items with the Tradebot, you will get a task to hand over the Foodbasket. This item requires a Truffle for crafting. Truffles are also required in cooking Vegetable Stir-Fry and Vegetable Pizza, and both these items help curb hunger.

Why can’t I add multiple pigs to my base?
You need to build separate shelters for each pig if you wish to add several pigs to your base.
Why doesn’t the Animal Transport drone menu appear?
This is a common bug with drones, and the only way to get the drone menu to appear is to restart the game and try again.
Can I grow truffles on the farm?
No, truffles are only dropped by pigs, so you need to own pigs to get them.
