In Road to Vostok, you will randomly attain keys that you won’t find a use for early on. But after exploring more of the map, you might encounter locked doors that require a special key. After locating the secret tunnel under the highway, you might find a locked door here, too. Obtaining the key for the door is the first step to uncover all the special loot beyond.

How to Get the Tunnel Key
The Tunnel Key can be collected in the Village. During my first run, I discovered the Tunnel Key in a cabinet inside a random house. However, during subsequent runs, I found it on enemies patrolling the village. If you haven’t reached the Village yet, you need to head out south from your cabin. Before leaving, I would recommend keeping most of your valuables back in the cabin to make room for the loot inside the tunnel.
It is a long trek, so make sure to carry some good weapons and consumables to keep you alive. After reaching the village, you have to do a bit of searching to find the Tunnel Key. Besides the Tunnel Key, you can find other keys here, too, like the Gymnasium Key, so it is worth taking your time looting the area before leaving.
How to Use the Tunnel Key
The Tunnel Key is used on a door under the Highway tunnel. The Highway is located in the western section of the map. You can directly head west from the Village, but the trek will be tougher since there isn’t a clear road. You could rather head northeast towards the school, then take the first left on the main road.
You will soon reach a gated area with a large highway. Drop down here and take out any enemies to make things easier. Then, head under the highway to find an opening with barricades that lead into the tunnel. Go past the barricades and look around for large green double doors to use the Tunnel Key.
What’s Inside the Tunnel
In the tunnel corridor, you will find common loot items on the corpse and inside one of the containers, but the rest will be empty. You might also get a PM5-K on the floor, but this is a random spawn. Exit out the other doorway and head left to find a special crate on your right, beside the large tanker.
You will find several unique items, including the M62 Jacket, the Jaakari Backpack, the RM-870, and other miscellaneous items such as ammo and a battery. To exit the tunnel, head back through the doors to leave the tunnel and enter the Highway.
