Key Points
- There is no hide helmet toggle currently available in the game.
- Helmet visibility is tied directly to the gear you equip.
- The only way to remove it visually is by unequipping it, which sacrifices stats.
In a lot of modern RPGs, hiding your helmet is almost a standard feature. You get to keep your stats while still seeing your character’s face during exploration or cutscenes. So naturally, when I jumped into Crimson Desert, this was one of the first customization options I looked for, and surprisingly, it’s not there. But can you hide the helmet using other ways? Read on below to find out.
How to Hide Helmet in Crimson Desert?

The short answer is – Yes, you can hide your helmet. As of the Update 1.02.00 of the game, you now have several options to keep your helmet visible or not. This option is vastly different from earlier, where you only had the option to remove the helmet entirely or keep it on for the rest of the game.
Now, you can tinker with the in-game settings to change your helmet’s feature and keep it on or off throughout your game. Here are the steps that you need to follow if you want to remove your headgear.

All Headgear Options
Below is a brief overview of all the options available for the Helmet while changing the setting in-game.
| Option | Description |
| Always Show | Headgear is visible always |
| Show in Combat | Headgear is hidden while out of combat and only appears during combat |
| Hide in Cutscenes | Headgear is visible throughout the game and in combat but is hidden during cutscenes. |
| Always Hide | Headgear is always hidden throughout the game. |
I tried playing without a helmet for a while just to see how it felt, and visually, it definitely improves gameplay. But with the new options available, I can finally customize how I like my helmet to be displayed while playing the game.
