Moving items from one place to another is a core mechanic of Nova Roma. With adequate road transport, you can quickly build up your city and keep your people happy. Building roads and using the Transport Cart feature will help you out immensely for this task.

How to Use Transport Carts in Nova Roma
To use the transport cart, all I had to do was select one of my storage warehouses, then select the logistics tab. Under here, select the supply route to the warehouse that requires this material. Once the route is created, select the transport cart. This will show you the route the cart will take by adding arrow marks on the road. You will also spot a plus symbol on screen, which will assign the cart to travel along this route.
To make this work, you need to establish an efficient road network. If you haven’t begun building roads yet, I have outlined the steps below.
How to Build Roads
Roads are essentially the first set of items you get to build in the game. To start, after setting up your region name and loading into a new map, you will have a few starting structures to work on. The first structure you need to place is the Outpost, as this will have your starting population and required materials to build all the other basic structures. Next, you will see the Roads option and click on it.
Then, click on an area where you wish to add a road, and drag it to your desired destination. After letting go, your people will be assigned to build the road. Building roads will require wood, and if you don’t have adequate wood, you can collect wood from trees within your vicinity. While running the road through forested areas, I found this to be a quick way to collect wood while building roads at the same time.
While you do start off with dirt roads in the beginning, you can upgrade them to stone roads after building a stone quarry and gathering stone. To upgrade roads, select the stretch of road to know how much stone is required for it. Stone roads offer better pathways and more stability while transporting goods.

I can’t see the plus icon on screen after assigning a transport cart. What should I do?
If the distance between the two destinations is beyond the transport cart’s range, then you won’t spot the icon on screen. Set the destinations closer together to get it to work.
What other materials do I require to build stone roads?
Besides stone, you will also require gold to help build stone roads.
Is the transport cart the only available mode of transport?
For now, the transport cart is the only source of transportation available to haul goods around the map.
