LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – How to Play Co-Op Multiplayer

By Kirthana KMay 19, 20263 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • The game only supports couch co-op and has no option for online multiplayer.
    • Only two players are supported in-game at a time.
    • Players can be added using the controller and adding them from the pause menu.

In LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you might have some difficulties trying to clear the levels solo. That’s where getting a friend on board will be a good decision. The game doesn’t really explain how to add another player, so it could send you on a wild goose chase to figure it out on your own.

    Is there a Co-Op Multiplayer?

I always relied on my friends to help me out in most RPG games, and LEGO Batman is no exception. Since I had to get someone on board my game, I started tinkering around with the in-game settings to figure out whether I could add someone to the game.

This led me to the answer that yes, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight does support multiplayer, but at the local level. There is no online multiplayer in the game so far, and you can’t play with more than one player at a time. To initiate couch co-op, you need to follow a few simple steps.

    How to Start Couch Co-Op

If you have a second controller, hand it over to your friend and load into the game. After that, connect the second controller to your system and press the Start button. This will automatically link the player to the second character in the game. At the same time, the screen will be split vertically, enabling both players to see their part of the gameplay.

If the second player wishes to leave the game, they need to hit the pause button and select the Drop Out option in the top right corner. This will automatically log them off from their side of the screen, which gives access to single-player only.

    Will There Be Online Multiplayer?

Currently, there are no mentions of online multiplayer within the game. There are also no indicators of the game offering support for more than two players, either. But with couch co-op enabled, you and a friend can take control of the main characters on screen and complete quests and puzzles with ease.

    FAQs

Will there always be a split screen while playing co-op?

Yes, the vertical split screen will be automatically added each time a second player gets added to the game. There are no settings currently that will change the split-screen setting.

Is there any way to add online multiplayer?

The only way to add online multiplayer is through mods, as the game does not support this option at all.

Can both players use the same character?

No, each player will gain control of only one of the characters on screen.
