Hytale – How to Craft, Repair, & Upgrade Weapons

    By Jordan BlakeJanuary 15, 2026Updated:January 16, 20264 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • Hytale weapons fall into three categories: melee, ranged, and magic. Players can craft a variety of weapons in these categories.
    • Weapons can be crafted early using basic materials and repaired with Repair Kits.
    • Players can upgrade weapons by exploring the world to gather higher-tier ores, but advanced upgrades require higher-tier workbenches.

Weapons are an important part of any game you play. Naturally, Hytale also contains a variety of weapons for its players. However, obtaining them does require a few additional steps. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can craft weapons and also their upgrade and repair processes.

    Hytale Weapons Overview

While the full list of weapons in Hytale that will be available at release has not yet been confirmed, Hypixel Studios continues to reveal more details over time. Currently, players can craft several weapon types, including swords, maces, battleaxes, daggers, shortbows, staves, shields, and crossbows.

How to Craft Weapons in Hytale

How to Craft Weapons in Hytale

Once you begin your game, crafting weapons should be one of the first tasks you do. To craft weapons, follow the steps given below:

    • At spawn, start collecting Stone Rubble using the F key. You can also opt to go out and start breaking Stone using right click.
    • You also need to collect Stick and Wood by breaking trees and Plant Fiber by collecting grass using the right click to craft crude weapons.
    • Once you have an ample amount of these, press the Tab key to open the Pocket Crafting menu. Now, you’ll be able to craft the weapons of your choice.

Below are the requirements for the crude weapons:

    • Crude Sword: 2x Stone Rubble, 2x Plant Fiber, and 2x Stick
    • Crude Mace: 6x Stone, 3x Trunk, and 4x Plant Fiber
    • Crude Battleaxe: 6x Stone, 3x Trunk, and 6x Plant Fiber
    • Crude Daggers: 3x Stone Rubble, 2x Plant Fiber, and 2x Stick
    • Crude Shortbow: 4x Sticks and 6x Plant Fiber

How to Repair Weapons in Hytale

In Hytale, repairing weapons requires a Repair Kit, which can be crafted at the Workbench. You’ll find the Repair Kit recipe under the second tab in the top-left of the crafting menu. Once crafted, place the Repair Kit in your hotbar and use it to open a repair interface where you can choose the item you want to restore.

To craft one Repair Kit, you’ll need:

    • 2 Linen Scraps
    • 1 Iron Ingot
    • 1 Light Leather

Linen Scraps are commonly dropped by enemies, such as Skeleton Fighters, Goblin Scrappers, and Trork. Iron Ingots are produced by smelting iron ore in a Tier 1 Furnace, using sticks as fuel. Light Leather requires an extra step: first, gather Light Hide from small animals like rabbits, pigs, and rats. Then, process the hide into Light Leather using a Drying Rack.

Repair Kits should be used thoughtfully. Unlike many survival games, Hytale doesn’t allow instant repairs at a workbench. Crafting Repair Kits consumes valuable resources, so it’s best to save them for weapons that are significantly worn rather than repairing gear that still has plenty of durability left. But what you can do is upgrade your weapons in a timely manner.

How to Upgrade Weapons in Hytale

    Upgrading weapons Hytale

Upgrading weapons requires a Blacksmith’s Anvil, recipes, and ores. The Blacksmith’s Anvil is crafted using 2x Copper Ingot, 10x Tree Trunk, and 5x Stone. You can then unlock the Blacksmith’s Anvil by clicking the third tab from the top when you press the Tab key.

Furthermore, you also need weapon crafting recipes. The easiest way to obtain new recipes is by unlocking them from memories system. As you keep upgrading your weapons, you’ll also need to upgrade your workbenches and Blacksmith’s Anvil to unlock better weapon recipes.

Some ores you can find to upgrade your weapons are:

    • Copper
    • Iron
    • Cobalt
    • Thorium
    • Adamantite
    • Mithril

For example, you need 4x Copper ingots, 4x Tree Trunk, and 3x Plant Fiber to unlock a Copper Sword, and an Adamantite Shortbow requires 11x Adamantite ingots, 3x Heavy Leather, and 3x Cindercloth Scraps. You’ll keep unlocking these recipes as you continue to upgrade your Blacksmith’s Anvil.
