All Will Fall – How to Use the Rain Catcher

By Kirthana KApril 7, 20263 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • The Rain Catcher helps harvest rainwater for consumption.
    • The basic way to use the rain catcher is to place the catcher on top of the water storage.
    • There are more complex ways to build around the rain catcher to optimize water collection.

Since your time spent in All Will Fall will be mainly at sea, you need to prep your residents with the necessary supplies and meet their basic needs. Obtaining water in the early game can be a bit difficult if you don’t have the right resources to filter out the impure water. That’s where the Rain Catcher comes in. With this, you can utilize the turbulent weather conditions of the ocean to your advantage.

How to Use a Rain Catcher Efficiently

Before you get into setting up the Rain Catcher, you need to place several other support structures first. To know how I built an efficient rain-catching system, just follow what I did through the steps given below.

    • Build a house that has a rooftop with a slope, in an area where you wish to place the rain catcher.
    • Place the Rain Catcher right under the roof to collect rainwater falling off the roof.
    • Under the Rain Catcher, place a water storage of any size. Make sure that at least one tile of the Rain Catcher touches the top of the water storage.
    • Placing several rain storage containers and adding pipes between them will help avoid excess overflow between the storage containers.
    • You can also place a water wheel between the Rain Catcher and the roof to use the flow of water to power your buildings.
    • Later in the game, you could build Rain Catchers to the side of the storage container to gather more water.
    • Increasing the number of houses around the Rain Catcher will multiply the amount of water collected. Also, once you start building high-rise apartments, you can place several rain catchers on the roof of each floor.

In short, the best system to use the Rain Catcher effectively involves using the roof of houses to funnel water to the catcher. That way, you will get 500% efficiency in gathering rainwater to drink.

    FAQs

Is the rain catcher better than the wood boiler?

The rain catcher and the wood boiler offer different functions. While the rain catcher harvests rainwater for drinking, the wood boiler purifies saltwater to make it drinkable.

Can I use pipes to tunnel water to the rain catcher?

Yes, pipes are the second-best choice to use to gather rainwater and send it to the rain catcher, but they won’t be viable long-term for collecting large amounts of water.

Why aren’t my residents consuming water?

It could be a bug, so restart the game and check again. If they still don’t drink water, make sure they have a long enough break time between jobs to drink water, and that there are adequate water supply facilities around the ship.
