Drylands: The Awakened Terrosunder Quest Guide
After unlocking the new Drylands area, speak to the Paleontologist Petri at the main hub area to start a series of quests. You need to complete the quests until you get the Awakening Serum, which you can get after completing the Awakening Serum quest. Next, your quest objective will be to capture and return 1 Photic Terrosunder.
Before you step into this quest, I would recommend getting the Dune Goggles and Dunehaven Wraps. You can purchase the wraps at the store for 40,000 cash, and the Dune Goggles are rewarded to you after handing over some fossil fishes to Petri for his quest. Equip these items to help you manage the desert better.
How to Spawn the Photic Terrosunder
It took a lot of trial and error until I figured that the Photic Terrosunder only spawns during Dust Storm Weather. This can occur naturally if you want around a bit, or you can use the Sundial Totem to activate it or the Marrow Rod to increase chances. Next, quickly head over to the Sunken Reservoir and toss an Awakening Serum into it. This will spawn the Photic Terrosunder.
How to Catch the Photic Terrosunder
To capture the Photic Terrosunder, I recommend using the Plaguereaver Rod, but even the Fabulous Rod will work here. For bait, I have picked the Cacti Pulp, but if that doesn’t work, switch to the Beached Pearl Bait. Toss the line in the sand and start the mini game. The minigame itself isn’t hard, but it is quite long and will take some time to complete.
Just keep an eye on the moving fish and move the white bar to align with it. The sandstorm will make it difficult to see the bar, hence why wearing the goggles will help here. Continue to be consistent with the movement of the bar until the meter fills up, after which you have captured the Photic Terrosunder. Hand it over to Paleontologist Petri to get the Dune Relic and the next task, which is to wait for 7 days.
How to Get the Terroscuttler Companion
As mentioned before, you need to wait 7 days and return to Petri to collect your reward. If you don’t like to wait, you can use the Sundial Totem 14 times to skip time. Speak to Petri, and he will give you the new Terroscuttler companion.
