Pokémon Pokopia – Where To Find a Control Unit

    By Jordan BlakeMarch 14, 2026Updated:July 24, 20263 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • The Control Unit is an item used for habitat construction.
    • While many players search the large structure in Sparkling Skylands, a much faster outdoor spawn exists nearby.
    • You can grab the Control Unit from a raised platform near a waterfall.

To unlock Magnemite’s transform ability, Pokémon Pokopia tasks you with finding four items for the Factory Storage Habitat, namely, Streetlight, Metal Drum, Jumbled Cords, and finally the Control Unit. However, many players are having issues finding the final item. When I reached this step, I made the same mistake most players do: I searched every room inside the massive structure in Sparkling Skylands.

It took way longer than it should have. Eventually, I found a much faster method, and honestly, it’s so simple that it almost feels like a shortcut the game doesn’t clearly point out.

    Pokopia Control Unit Overview

Main PurposeMagnemite Habitat construction and activating mechanical builds
    Region Sparkling Skylands
Rarity Uncommon but repeatable in the region
    Required MoveGlide

From what I’ve seen, Control Units are mainly tied to tech-based upgrades. You’ll need them for certain advanced habitat builds, so it’s worth learning a quick farming route early.

Where To Find a Control Unit in Pokopia

Here’s the exact route I used, which consistently gets you a Control Unit in under a minute:

Start at the Sparkling Skylands Pokémon Center and head upward along the rocky terrain behind it. The path isn’t too complicated, but you’ll want to keep moving toward higher ground (like in the image above).

From there, use your Glide ability to move toward the structures on the left side of the area. The easiest way (in my experience) is:

    • Glide to the structure directly ahead first
    • Then glide again toward the far-left platform

If you’re comfortable with movement, you can try doing it in a single glide, but I found the two-step approach more reliable.

    Pokémon Pokopia Control Unit Location

If you haven’t unlocked Glide yet, don’t worry—you can still reach the same spot using nearby ziplines. It takes a few seconds longer, but the route is still much faster than searching indoors.

Once you reach the far-left structure, head toward the waterfall. From there, move slightly upward to a raised platform. This is where the Control Unit spawns. Interact with it, and it will go straight into your inventory. After finding to this outdoor spawn point, it became my go-to method. It’s quick, repeatable, and doesn’t involve fighting enemies or solving puzzles.

Alternatively, you can craft a Control Unit if you have the following items available:

    • 2x Iron Ingot
    • 1x Pokemetal
    • 1x Glass

From the above items, you can craft one Control Unit using your Workbench. So if you feel that you have enough resources to craft instead of traveling, this is the best method to obtain a Control Unit.

    FAQs

What is the Control Unit used for in Pokémon Pokopia?

The Control Unit is mainly used in building Magnemite’s habitat and technology-based structures. Certain advanced habitat upgrades and automated devices require at least one Control Unit to function.

Can you find multiple Control Units in Sparkling Skylands?

Yes. The region contains multiple Control Unit spawn points, including the large central building and outdoor areas. Revisiting the area later can help you collect additional units.

Do you need any abilities or Pokémon moves to get the Control Unit?

No. The outdoor Control Unit location can be reached without special abilities by using a zipline. However, using the Glide action makes it faster to reach the spawn point.
