Nioh 3 – Best Way to get Yasakani Magatama

By Sagnik AdhikaryFebruary 16, 20266 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • Yasakani Magatama is a powerful item that reduces Set Bonus Requirements, increases Base Defense, and more.
    • To obtain this item, you need to farm the room to the left of the Edo Castle Passageway Shrine in Nioh 3’s final mission, “A Sinister End”.
    • This is doable in New Game+ and requires you to equip gear, Soul Cores that favor Luck, and allocate your points towards the Luck stat.

The Yasakani Magatama is one of the best and most crucial items you’ll need in Nioh 3. It increases your Base Defense, reduces Set Bonus Requirements, increases Resistance to every Status Ailment in the game, and much more, depending on your build. Since this item is an extremely rare drop in New Game+, you need a good farm spot for it. So, here’s where you need to farm to obtain the Yasakani Magatama easily, as well as the right gear and Soul Cores required for it in Nioh 3.

    1. Best Yasakani Magatama Farm Spot

    Yasakani Magatama farm spot.

To farm Yasakani Magatama successfully, access the Battle Scroll, and begin the final main mission of Nioh 3, titled “A Sinister End” in 1622 CE – Final Battle of Edo. Progress the mission until you reach the Edo Castle Passageway Shrine. From the Shrine, take a left, then head around to the right to reach the large room with Ronins in it.

If you have the Spells, the easiest way to deal with them is using Hellfire to lure them out of the room into the hallway, then using two Hellshocks to finish them off. Once you’ve defeated them, you’ll receive tons of loot, among which you have a greater chance of getting the Yasakani Magatama as a drop reward.

After that, head past the Nurikabe and open the door that leads back to the Passageway Shrine to rest. Then repeat the process until you get this item in your inventory. This is basically the entire method, but to maximize the potential of this farm, you need to equip the right Armor Sets, Guardian Spirits and Soul Cores.

    2. Gear to Equip (Samurai & Ninja)

When it comes to having the right gear and Soul Cores, always prioritize pieces that focus on Luck. The more Luck you can stack, the better your chances are to get the Yasakani Magatama in your first run. This also includes allocating some points into your Luck stat beforehand. With that said, take a look at the gear you need for both the Samurai and Ninja styles:

    I. Samurai Style

Armor Set required for Samurai Style.

For the Samurai Style, here are the Swallowtail Set pieces you need to increase your Luck stat via stat bonuses provided:

    • Swallowtail Helmet
    • Swallowtail Cuirass
    • Swallowtail Gauntlets
    • Swallowtail Waistguard
    • Swallowtail Greaves

When you equip 2 Pieces for this Armor Set, you’ll gain +15 Luck. When you advance further and equip 7 Pieces, you’ll get +60 Luck, which will be massive for your future NG+ runs. Luck is super important for this method, so prioritze every piece of Gear that favours Luck, while simultaneously being powerful enough to defeat the enemies required.

One more thing that will boost your Luck is the Oh Guardian Spirit, which increases Item Drop Rate by +20.8% at Level 25, further increasing your odds at obtaining a Yasakani Magatama during your rinse-and-repeat runs.

    II. Ninja Style

Armor Set required for Ninja Style.

For the Ninja Style in Nioh 3, you require the Sohaya Set, but having only four of them will do the trick. Here’s what you need:

    • Sohaya Cuirass
    • Sohaya Gauntlets
    • Sohaya Waistguard
    • Sohaya Greaves

When you equip 3 Pieces for this Armor Set, you’ll receive a massive +100 Luck during Crucible missions. Since “A Sinister End” is considered a Crucible mission, this passive will stay active throughout the entire thing, increasing your chances of obtaining a Yasakani Magatami from the get-go.

Unfortunately, unlike the Samurai Style’s Oh Guardian Spirit, the Ninja Style does not have an equivalent Guardian Spirit that favors Item Drop Rate. In this case, you can use any Guardian Spirit that aids Gear Drops. With Gear out of the way, move on to the Soul Cores, which are crucial to this run.

    3. Soul Cores to Equip

Soul Cores required for the run.

Soul Cores are imperative to this farm method in Nioh 3. Without them, your chances of obtaining a Yasakani Magatama will plummet significantly. So, here are the Soul Cores you need to equip:

    • Red Kappa Soul Core: Equip the Red Kappa Soul Core in the Yang Position, since it significantly increases Item Drop Rate. This Soul Core is obtained after defeating the Red Kappa Yokai, and equipping it in the Yang Position will offer the Summoning Seal: Kappa, allowing you to summon Red Kappas to attack your foes as well, making the runs easier.
    • Kappa Soul Core: Like the Red Kappa Soul Core, this one also boosts Item Drop Rate and needs to be equipped in the Yang position. This Soul Core is randomly obtained after defeating a Kappa in locations like Hamamatsu Hill, Lake Hamana, and more. This also offers the Summoning Seal: Kappa, which allows you to summon Red Kappas to target enemies.

With these Soul Cores and gear, you’ll have a much higher chance of obtaining the Yasakani Magatama in Nioh 3. Once you’ve obtained this item, ensure that you equip it in your Accessories to reap its effects and improve your future runs.
