Windrose – How to Get a Ship

By Kirthana KFebruary 20, 20263 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • At the start of the game, the only default sea vehicle will be your small boat.
    • You get to uncover a larger ship as you progress through the questline.
    • The ship enables faster travel and better combat than the boat.

As a pirate in Windrose, your life at sea will be turbulent. But without a ship, you will be a laughing stock in front of your peers. Early in the game, you will be on a quest to find a ship for you and your crew, but the quest to get a ship is long and winding.

    How to Get a Ship

As you progress through the main story quests, you will encounter Doctor Galen at your campsite. Speak to him to get the I Need a Bigger Boat quest. For the quest, you will find marked locations on the map where a shipwreck is. Before you leave your island, it is best to place a fast travel bell on your current island. Then, take your boat and set sail towards the quest marker.

How to Find and Repair the Ship

Once you set foot on the island, create another fast travel point, then explore the shoreline to find the shipwrecks. The exact shipwreck you are looking for is a larger ship that is broken down. This shipwreck is surrounded by tougher enemies, which will be difficult to beat if you are at lower levels. After clearing the area, get close to the broken ship and examine it. You will get a notification to collect the following resources to rebuild the ship:

    • 100x Wood
    • 20x Nails
    • 20x Corse fabric
    • 10x Rope

How to Collect Ship Materials and Crew

You can collect wood and nails by breaking down the smaller marked ships marked on the map. Use the axe to gather more wood from trees. Corse fabric and rope are found inside chests during exploration or crafted at the workbench.

Once you have all the items, return to the shipwreck to get your next objective, which is to find 7 men to help with repairs. If playing co-op, you could ask your friends to help you out. Or follow Doctor Galen’s other quest, Rescuing the Crew, to get new crew members. Once the ship is repaired, you get to recall your ship and set sail.

    FAQs

Doctor Galen doesn’t spawn for me. What do I do?

You need to progress through the questline and build a camp to have the doctor spawn. If he doesn’t appear still, it could be a bug, so restart the game to get him to appear.

    Can I customize my ship?

Currently, there are no customization options for your ship.

How do I find my sunken ship?

You need to progress through the questline to build a wharf. Once you have a wharf, you need to go here and rebuild or repair your ship using 20x wood. After that, press K while you are in the overworld to summon your ship.

    Can I capture enemy ships?

Yes, you can attack and capture enemy ships if you have the right equipment on your ship. Visit the wharf and select weapons like the cannon to be equipped on your ship and have it combat-ready.
