The Old Friends quest is unlocked by listening to Ni Shaolan and Kun the Youngest in the northern section of the Ghostlight Market. It then leads you to the Nine Mortal Ways Base, where you’ll need to find three Old Friends to complete the objective.

Old Friend Location #1 | Zhang Shuazi
To find Zhang Shuazi, head over to the location shown in the image. At the location, you’ll find the first old friend next to the face mask shop. Click on the Chat with him button to interact with Zhang Shuazi.
On interacting, he’ll encourage you to place a bet on dice rolls. Interact with him continuously until you win and gain affection with him. This will be your first step in the Old Friends quest
Old Friend Location #2 | Mei Zhaole
Head over to the location marked on the image above. Here you’ll find Mei Zhaole on the upper floors of the wooden buildings. Climb to the first floor to interact with the second old friend. He’ll talk with you about his past and ask you to pay his debt. You’ll need to do that to gain his affection. On doing that, you’ll complete his part for the Old Friends quest.
Old Friend Location #3 | Fan Qicha
Finding the final friend is the tricky part. Fan Qicha sends you a message as you progress through the Nine Mortal Ways Base. You need to befriend her with your chat messages. When you gain her affection, the final step of the Old Friends quest will be complete. Do note that there is no physical interaction with Fan Qicha.
