Key Points
- The Blue Shark is a mini boss that spawns on the same island as the Pufferfish.
- You will require the Blue Shark trophy to unlock the grill on the island and subsequent islands.
- Before getting into the fight, make sure you have maxed out your ammo and purchased the SMG.
Some of the later islands in How to Fish will have two bosses on them. You will first encounter this while in Island 3. If you thought the Pufferfish was the end of the line here, then you are probably missing out on the second mini boss here, the Blue Shark.

How to Find the Blue Shark Boss

Along with the Pufferfish, you can also summon a Blue Shark boss on Island 3. The Blue Shark is a requirement to unlock the grill and cooking feature in subsequent islands. First, you can talk to the cook beside the griller, and he will tell you that he has a lighter to start the grill, but he requires a specific type of fish. The Shark Boss can only be summoned if you own the Standard Boss Lure. The only problem is, it requires $280.

You could reel in the other fish on the island, kill them, then turn them in to the cashier to farm more money. Personally, I purchased a random cheap lure to farm fish. This was much faster to do in co-op than solo, but it is still doable in solo. Once you have enough, I recommend purchasing just 1 lure, then spending the extra money on getting the SMG and adding the compensator or suppressor to reduce recoil. Also, max out the ammo for it too.
You could use the Shotgun too, since it has higher damage output. Just ensure you have some distance between you and the shark before you reload your weapon.
How to Beat the Blue Shark Boss

The Blue Shark is a bit trickier to beat than other bosses on the previous islands. You could take some cover behind the trees in the central area of the island to trap the boss and buy some time. But the boss will still turn around and follow you. The only way to deal with this boss is to run and keep your distance while looking back and shooting it. I thought dynamite would work for this fight, but it was tricky to get the shark to stay in one place long enough to blow it up.
I recommend tossing the shark aside as far as possible after luring it in. That will give you a head start to aim and shoot at the boss. If playing co-op, then you would have an easier time if you both own the SMG and take turns shooting at the shark. For solo players, the only thing you can do is keep your distance, turn around when you are farther away, then land a couple of bullets on the boss before running away again.

Get between the trees on the island to have the shark stuck behind them for a moment. Take this time to reload your weapon and land some hits while the shark struggles to free itself. Whatever you do, try not to melee it, as the shark will take out a large chunk of health if you get close. Eventually, the shark will go down, and you will win the fight against it.
FAQs
Who do I hand over the shark trophy to?
You need to give it to the NPC beside the griller to get the lighter to light up the grill.
What does the griller do?
You can now cook your caught fish on it and sell them for higher value than usual. Cooking a fish will increase its value by 1.5x. Press F to view the stats while cooking. If you leave it on the grill for too long, it will burn and have its value reduced to 0.
Can I consume cooked fish?
Yes, fish cooked on the grill can be consumed, and they often provide more health benefits than consuming raw fish.
