Key Points
- Horses spawn all across the map in fixed locations, and they usually appear in groups.
- When taming them, you need to play a quick minigame and aim for a high score.
- You can adjust your horse’s stats at the stable and increase their attributes here.
Since Gloria Victis is an open-world game, you can’t get around everywhere on foot. While you do have fast travel to help you zip around from region to region, you would still need to get to your destination by yourself. That’s where owning a mount comes in, and for that, you need to find and tame horses in the wild.

How to Find Horses

Horses are found across the map in static locations. They usually appear in groups of two or three and are easily spotted around your starting location. If you are too far out in the world, here is a list of all the locations where horses are found. While out adventuring, check around the beach shoreline or around grassy terrains to find horses.
If you can’t find any horses in the designated area, then it could be that other players have nabbed them. Horses do respawn, but it could take half an hour for them to reappear. I would suggest returning to the location at a later time or keep exploring other marked areas to find horses.
How to Tame Horses

Luckily, these creatures are quite tame, so you can walk up to any horse and start the taming process. Press E to bring up the minigame, then press the arrow buttons or WASD keys according to where the triangles light up. A timer surrounds the minigame circle, and once it ends, you will get the stats of your horse.
The better you are at the minigame, the better your horse’s stats will be, so try to aim for the max combo. On the horse stats page, you will see how many days they will stay alive and their level. The higher the level, the better their attributes will be. The fewer days they have left, the faster they will die.
You can always cancel the stats box to release the horse into the wild and try again with another horse. If you are satisfied with the horse’s stats, you can name it to keep it.
Horse Levels Explained

When taming a horse, take a look at the levels section. This section will come with two different numbers, and these numbers vary between horses. Pay attention to the number on the right, as this indicates how many levels a horse can be trained. The max level for this number is 100.
Anything that is close to max shows that it is a good horse to own. The numbers indicated on the left are the levels the horse has already learnt. If the left side level shows 30, then the horse has already leveled up by 30, and you need to work a bit longer to reach the indicated level.
How to Level Up Horses

Riding horses and engaging them in battle are the most common ways to level up a horse. Press T anytime in the overworld to spawn your horse, then interact with them to ride them. The longer the distance covered by the horse, the faster you get to level it up. Once a horse reaches the next level, you will earn Attribute Points.
Visit the stable across any city and pull up the horse stats page. The horse has four stats that you can allocate points to:
- Vitality: Increases total HP and health regen.
- Conditioning: Increases stamina and stamina regen.
- Agility: Improves maneuverability and direction speed.
- Dynamics: Improves the speed at which the horse can accelerate and decelerate.
Besides the above stats, you also have other static stats like Durability and Age. You cannot change these stats. The age increases by 0.5% per day, regardless of whether the horse is actively used or not. Once the horse hits 100 years, the durability will start decreasing. You can still use an older horse, but it will have reduced stats and usage until its durability reaches 0 and it passes away.
