What Does Reality Shatter Do

Reality Shatter is the final step in resetting your quarry, and it offers an important function. Performing a Reality Shatter will unlock advanced upgrades, where you can spend your converted Reality Shards to unlock them. The Reality Shatter function unlocks after obtaining 100K Silver. After that, you need to farm Pending Reality Shards to convert and use them here. If you are unsure of how to farm Reality Shards, there are a few different ways to do it.
How to Farm Reality Shards

During the early game, I focused on unlocking Core Saturation and Core Extraction from the World Fracture upgrades. These cost 100 Core Fragments each and helped farm Reality Shards. Then, I focused on upgrading the Rocks and the amount of damage dealt to them to increase my shard count.
After collecting a couple of hundred Reality Shards, I performed a Reality Shatter and spent my shards on unlocking the Core Saturation MK 2 (1) upgrade. This further improved the way I started collecting shards.
Is Reality Shatter Important
Yes, Reality Shatter is considered the end-game, and it is something you need to do after unlocking all other minor upgrades. I found using up my Reality Shards to unlock Reality Upgrades helped make my next run faster and more efficient. The upgrades found here are much more advanced than upgrades found under World Shatter, so taking your time and investing in them will make a lot of difference to your later runs.
What Stays After Reality Shatters
Most structures and upgrades for them will reset, except for a few. You will get the Quarry Foreman along with its upgrade levels and fixed settings throughout all Reality Shatters. Another structure that will stay standing is the Drone Hub, but while the configurations of the hub will remain after a shatter, the upgrade levels will reset. Also, Drone Core earnings will pick up after the reset, so you don’t have to go through the Quartz upgrade to unlock it.
Best Way to Use Reality Shatter
Before you start a Reality Shatter, it is best to perform several World Fractures instead. Performing World Fractures is a lot easier, as you need to farm Core Fragments from an early game resource called Sandstone. Use Core Fragments to unlock all the upgrades under World Fractures first. This might take a while, but each time you unlock a feature, you will find your game runs a lot smoother.
This also helps farming more Reality Shards, too. After you are done with World Fractures, perform your first Reality Shatter and start unlocking all the upgrades under here. Repeat this step a couple more times until you have everything unlocked and reached the endgame.
