Key Points
- You need to keep track of your thirst, hunger, stamina, and your disease tracker to survive in HumanitZ.
- HumanitZ has many gameplay mechanics that are well-hidden and require a bit of tinkering to fully understand.
- The goal is to survive for as long as possible. Prioritizing certain actions over others will help you live longer.
HumanitZ can be an unforgiving experience if you are completely clueless in your survival methods. There are countless times I died because I drank the contaminated water, or failed to pick up the signs of disease, or spent way too much time looting without checking the time, or simply, just was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
HumanitZ Tips
| Survival Difficulty | Hard |
| Highest Number of Days | Over 100 |
| Save Allowed | Yes |
HumanitZ does allow you to choose difficulty to make the world a bit fairer in terms of dealing and taking damage from zombies and the chances of finding items. But the game demands your attention to the survival mechanics to help you push to the next day, or things can easily get worse in HumanitZ if you are not careful of its gameplay mechanics and its consequences.
All Essential Tips for Early Run in HumanitZ
Here, I am going to focus on all the problems you will come across in the early run in the game. Give it a look to be well prepared for the zombies lurking in the shadows.
Turn Dirty Water into Pure Water

Once you get an Empty Bottle, you can fill it up with dirty water from any source on the map. Don’t try to drink the dirty water after filling the empty bottle; the water inside the bottle is contaminated. Luckily, there is a way to purify or clean the dirty water from the bottle.
You will need to get your hands on Purification Tablets to convert dirty water into clean water. Normally, you will find Purification Tablets by looting the dead corpses of zeeks or zombies.
Another way includes getting or buying a Bottle of Purify Tabs. When you open these bottles, you might get Purification Tablets. There is a chance you might not get anything at all. Boiling the dirty water also turns it into clean, pure water. Get to any fireplace, and you will get the option to boil dirty water.
Repair Melee Weapon
You must loot or craft Duct Tape to fix or repair the melee weapon. Duct Tapes can be found in containers around the map. Just right-click on the melee weapon, then choose the Repair option to fix the weapon.
Note: You must have the Melee Weapon equipped to perform repairs; the same rule applies to the guns.
Do note, Duct Tape will not repair the melee weapon to 100%, but it is still better than nothing, so if you find a baseball bat, and the durability is quite low, use the Duct Tape.
Early Healing Up
When you are starting out, and you take some nasty bites from zombies, then you must heal up quickly. Here, I will recommend using Rags as a healing item to restore HP. You can easily make them by crafting out of X5 Fibers.
A single Rag can restore 10 HP, not bad when you are starting out and have no other alternatives. Just have an axe ready to chop down the bushes to get Fibers. Later on, you can use Pain Killers and Medkits to heal up, but they are rare; sometimes you will find these items on traders. If you do see it, get it immediately.
Note: Pain Killers regenerate HP over time, not at a single instance. You can get a good amount of painkillers from looting First Aid Cabinets inside houses or parked RVs.
Quick Drag
When you are out in the wild, looting out of containers, the last thing you want to do is to waste time dragging the items to your inventory. Plenty of times, Zeek or zombie managed to land a hit on me while I was dragging stuff to my inventory.
Instead of dragging the item to your inventory or moving by right-clicking on the item, use Ctrl + L. Click to instantly transfer the item to your inventory.
Always Loot Cloth

While wearing clothes can provide insulation and change your overall appearance, they can also be traded for items. If you do fancy an item, just trade clothes to get it without wasting or trading valuable resources.
Always Carry Empty Bottles
The empty bottles do stack over each other, so they will not eat up too much space. You can fill empty bottles with water from any water source.
Then you can use Dirty Water on the crops on the Crop Bed. You can get a good amount of Dirty Water from the toilets when you are rummaging in an abandoned area. Again, you can boil the dirty water to make it clean. You will get the option to clean dirty water by interacting with the fireplace.
Grab the Horse Saddle to Ride the Horse

You can’t ride a horse without a saddle on its back. Head over to any Ranch nearby, and you will find a horse saddle inside. Once you grab the saddle, walk up to the horse, and then open up the inventory, right-click on the Horse Saddle and choose the Install option.
Note: Saddles will come with their own storage space that you can interact with by holding the F button near the horse.
Use Lockpick Instead of Breaking the Window
Breaking the window to get inside the house might sound like a great idea, but it can go horribly wrong if a horde of zombies hears the sound of glass breaking. Here, it’s better to use the lockpick to open the door without causing any disturbance.
You can find Lockpicks by looting containers. You can also craft the Lockpick by mixing 1x Scrap Metal with 1x Screwdiver.
Fuel Your Car
Get to the back of the car to get the option to fuel. Make sure to have a Fuel Can (Fill) in your inventory to fuel a car. If you do come across a random vehicle on the road, you can also siphon the fuel by using the same method. Just get close to the back of the car, instead of Fuel, choose Siphon to steal the fuel from the car to your Fuel Can.
Increase the Backpack Inventory Space
You need to look out for the Grey Sports Bag to increase your backpack space at a moderate cost. If you do want the maximum amount of space, then you need to keep your eye out for the Adventure Backpack. You will find it lying around in houses; just keep an eye out for the items on the ground.

Yes, and as a bonus, they also offer infinite stamina for a small amount of time. They come in incredibly useful when you are in a tight situation and want to make a run for the car or horse.
