How to Get a Saddle

While exploring the overworld, kill some deer to get hide. Build a tannery at your base and use the hide to get cured deer hide. It will take an hour to craft it. Then, head over to the Tailoring bench and select the Horse Saddle recipe. To craft a saddle, you will require the following materials.
- 1x cured deer hide.
- 2x sewing kits.
- 1x wood.
- 8x nails.
How to Find and Tame a Horse

Horse spawns are random, but the most common way to get a horse is to check farms and barns. You might also encounter them randomly in the overworld, but that could be quite rare. Taming a horse requires no special treatment. All you need to do is head into your inventory and select the saddle. Stand close to the horse until you get the interact button, then place the saddle on the horse. You can now sit on the horse to ride it.
How to Feed a Horse
Horses will lose energy over time. The only way to keep the horse going is to feed it fruits, vegetables, and cereals. While exploring farms and barns, look out for pitchforks and hay bales. If you can’t find a pitchfork, you can craft one at the workbenches. Use the pitchfork to collect hay and drop the hay from your inventory in front of the horse. The same applies to fruits and vegetables like apples, berries, and carrots. You get to find them in the overworld or grow them yourself.
FAQs
How do I check my horse’s stats?
On the left side of the screen are the stats for all your companions. This will also show the current stats of your horse’s health, energy, and stamina.

Letting the horse rest by dismounting will replenish stamina. You could also slow down while riding to restore stamina, but it will be much slower than dismounting entirely.
How do I replenish my horse’s energy?
The only way to replenish energy is to feed your horse. Pick up any food item from your inventory and stand as close as possible to the horse’s head. Drop the food down and wait for it to pick it up. Do remember that horses will not eat rotten food.
How to stop my horse from losing energy?
Removing the saddle will stop the horse from losing energy, but it will no longer be rideable if you do so. To ride the horse again, place the saddle back on anytime.
Can horses take damage and die?
Yes, your horse comes with a health bar. If it takes too much damage, it will die. It will leave behind a sack of items if you had used the saddle as storage space. The only way to keep your horse safe is to keep it in your base.
