Windrose – How to Deal with Boars

By Kirthana KFebruary 21, 20263 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • Boars are a common enemy type to spawn around the islands.
    • Hunting down boars will give you food and other resources like hide and animal fat.
    • Without the right equipment, it would be hard to deal with boars.

As you start off in Windrose, things will go downhill rather quickly. Enemies lurk within the tall grass, and if you are unarmed, you are up for a nasty surprise. Your starting island will offer plenty of boars who aren’t afraid to tackle you to the ground. Practicing your fighting skills on them firsthand will prepare you for the worst later on.

    Boar Fight Preparation

    Collecting Healing Items and Consumables

Before you go in and start hunting down boars, it is recommended to collect healing items first. Items like bandages, health potions, or meat will help keep your health up. Early in the game, spend some time unlocking chests to find potions and bandages and killing dodos for meat. If you have a cooking station and the required vessels, then cooked meat will offer certain bonuses too. Bandages can also be crafted at the workstation using Plant Fiber.

    Upgrading Base and Gear

Fighting requires stamina, and the easiest way to upgrade your stamina regeneration is to increase your base’s comfort rating. That requires building several new structures around your base. Besides this, it is also recommended to upgrade your gear and weapons. Once you have a workbench at your base, you get to craft basic weapons and armor. Use the Upgrade tab at the workbench to level up your weapon’s gear level.

    How to Fight Boars

Practicing how to parry and dodge will help you avoid boars when they attack you head-on. If they charge at you, dodge and roll behind the boar and hit them there. Consume food and healing items during the fight to keep your health up. If you find a group of boars, try to single them out one by one instead of fighting them in a group.

It is best to practice your moves on sows, since they are easier to tackle than boars. Use the Block move to stop them from attacking you, then learn their moveset. Parry downwards when the timing is right to break their shield, then combo hit them to kill them. With some practice, you could easily tackle sows and boars in no time.

    FAQs

Which are the best melee weapons to use against boars?

Melee players will benefit more from Machetes, Halberds, and Rapiers. The basic Machete, Dueling Rapier, and the Swamp Halberd are tough enough to kill low-level boars.

Which is the easiest way for me to kill boars?

Once you have unlocked ranged weapons like the Musket and Pistol, you can use them to kill boars from a distance.

I can’t find boar spawns anywhere. What do I do?

Boars will always spawn in grassy areas like forests, especially near vegetation like potatoes and mushrooms. If you don’t find a boar spawn anywhere, then you might need to reload the game.
