How to Unlock the Wandering Ark World Boss

The Wandering Ark World Boss is located in the Shifting Sands, northeast of the Jade Gate Pass in the Hexi region in Where Winds Meet. Head to this location to encounter a sandstorm. Once you enter the storm, your maps and directions will be disabled, indicating the boss is about to appear as you push forward.

Cut through the sandstorm and wait for the camel bells to ring. When you hear them, head to where they are to find a camel appearing, then disappearing in the sand. Use your Wind Sense to locate these bells more easily.

After encountering a couple of camels, you’ll reach a large tree as your surroundings become darker. Behind the tree, you’ll find the Shifting Sands Boundary Stone, along with the Wandering Ark World Boss waiting for you at the back. Interact with the Boundary Stone and unlock the fast-travel to this spot before you approach the boss.
Wandering Ark World Boss Moveset Explained

Wandering Ark has two phases, and each phase consists of long-ranged attacks featuring volleys of arrows, thorned brambles, ghostly boats, and miniature moons to deal damage. Here’s what you need to look out for and how to dodge them:
Phase 1 Moveset
- Spirit Volley: The Wandering Ark fires volleys of arrows towards you. Start sprinting to avoid them, and maintain your Endurance. This attack stops when you get close to the boss, so sprint as quickly as you can while conserving Endurance.
- Ark Slam: The Ark launches upwards and crashes down with a devastating slam. Sprint out of the landing area to avoid it easily. This leaves the Moon Lantern vulnerable to damage, so utilize the window and attack it as much as possible.
- Unbroken Arkslam: The same move as before, only three times as deadly. The Ark launches upwards and slams the ground thrice in a row. Ensure you’re dodging and sidestepping to move out of the attack radius.
Phase 2 Moveset
- Ark Charge: The Wandering Ark charges towards you with its entire body. Before it gets the drop on you, move out of the way either to your left or right. Do not dodge backwards, as you won’t be able to escape its line of attack.
- Miniature Moonfall: The Ark launches into the air and conjures a miniature moon. Once the moon is formed, it comes crashing down towards your location, indicated by a red marker on the ground. Move out of the way to avoid it, and before it explodes, use the Cosmic Reversal ability to rewind time and launch the miniature moon back at the Ark. The window is short, so be quick before it explodes and deals damage to you.
- Sandthorn Flurry: The Ark summons waves of thorned brambles and sends them towards you. Sidestep and dodge to move out of the way.
- Raining Fleet: The Wandering Ark rises in the air, then sends in smaller boats towards your location. Since the indicator on the ground can easily determine their attack location, you can dodge them by sidestepping when they’re close.
- Phantom Binding: The Ark traps you into a miniature moon and deals massive damage. The only way to escape this attack is to use Serene Breeze as soon as you become trapped inside the moon.
- Phantom Shockwave: The Wandering Ark jumps into the air and delivers a devastating ground pound that sends shockwaves around the area. Move out of the way before the Ark comes down on you to avoid the shockwave’s wrath.
- Sandthorn Barrage: The Ark traps you in a wall of thorned bramble and unleashes volleys of arrows. All you have to do is keep circling the area until the boss stops attacking you.
How to Defeat the Wandering Ark World Boss

This boss is pretty gimmicky, as there are specific weak points you have to attack in all the phases. It will take you a couple of tries to get a hang of the mechanics, so here are some tips to remember to defeat this boss in Where Winds Meet:
- As you approach the boss, sprint and close the distance as quickly as you can to avoid the Spirit Volley. Do not use your arrow to attack it; it’s not worth the effort or the time, as you will receive massive damage from the volleys of arrows. As soon as you close the gap, the arrow barrage will fade.
- Focus on the withered branches in Phase 1, as they’re the primary weak points for the Wandering Ark. You can either use your arrow or utilize Martial Arts like Everspring Umbrella and Vernal Umbrella to deal damage while avoiding its attacks swiftly. Umbrellas are the best option for this fight.
- During Phase 2, you’ll notice exposed Moon Lanterns on the Wandering Ark’s “body”. If possible, use your bow to target the Lanterns to deal extra damage. However, it’s risky since they have a smaller hitbox and you need to aim precisely, so unless you’re certain you will hit them, avoid doing this.
- After the Ark Slam, the Moon Lantern falls to the ground, allowing you to deal significant damage. Quickly attack the Lantern when it’s vulnerable to make the boss fight way easier.
- Utilize the Miniature Moonfall to your advantage. Move out of the way when the move lands, and use the Cosmic Reversal ability immediately to give the Wandering Ark a taste of its own medicine. If you take too long to do this, the moon will explode.
- Overall, paying attention to its attacks will do you more good. Don’t worry about dealing damage immediately. Instead, analyze the attack patterns, wait for the window, then jump in and deal massive damage. Use the boss’ abilities to your advantage as often as you can.
