Starting the Gilded Chase Quest

Travel to the Boundary Stone located at the Harvestfall Village, northwest of Moonveil Mountain, west of the Qinghe region. Interact with the bounty board near the entrance to start the quest, The Gilded Chase.
Note: The game will track the Gilded Chase as an event objective and as a Lost Chapter questline. You can view the Gilded Chase on your quest log.
Around the board, people start talking about the appearance of a phantom thief, Jun Bujian, who has the ability to steal any object without getting caught. The notice on the board will mention Master Wen Wuhen’s Mirage Boat being the next target on the phantom thief’s book.
Travel to the Riverside Station Boundary Stone and talk to Old Jin. After the conversation, make your way to the Mirage Boat at a distance.
Getting the Invitation to the Mirage Boat

The entrance to the boat will be blocked by the Zither Keeper NPC, who will ask for an invitation or money to get inside. Now follow the marker, and it will take you to the building near the boat. Inside, talk to the Southern Wayfarer NPC.
After the conversation with the wayfarer, climb onto the top of the building. Use your Wind Sense to eavesdrop on the conversation happening around the boat. Here, you gain information on Old Craftsman, the Five Ghosts Command, and the Guqin master.
Hand over the details to Southern Wayfarer. Then, meet up with Guqin Elder playing an instrument near the boat. After the cutscene, you will get the Invitation to the Mirage Boat.

Enter the Mirage Boat

You can’t board the Mirage Boat right away; you will need to wait until tomorrow. Set your clock to ‘Tomorrow’ at ‘Xu’ hour to set the time for the boat’s entrance.
Now you can talk to Zither Keeper at the entrance to get inside the boat. Once aboard, get to the second floor and attend a meeting with Master Wuhen.
Here, Master Wuhen will mention that the phantom thief, Jun Bujian, has already boarded the boat. Our next task is to find Officer Nan.
Officer Nan refers to the Southern Wayfarer NPC; you will find him on the deck, next to the only building on the boat. Talk to him, and you will get additional objectives: you must talk to Old Jin, Jin Zhongyuan, the Book Keeper, and play a game of Mahjong with Jiangh to gain information.
Bug Alert #1: When the game wants you to talk to the Southern Wayfarer, you will not see him on the deck of the boat. It’s a known bug, but simply moving to a different location or drowning in water will spawn him back at the location.
After completing all the tasks, the next objective is to check on the abnormal fireworks behind the building on the boat.
Finding Answers

After interacting with the firework boxes and getting to the front of the boat, near the figurehead. Eavesdrop on the conversation between Si Qi and Zither Keeper, now connect the link between:
- Who prepared the fireworks?
- Connect Currency Irregularities with Old Jin’s Discovery to uncover the new clue.
Answer #1: Master Wuhen spent a fortune creating coin fireworks for the birthday banquet.
Note: In-game, you will not “Answer #1 or #2″; you must link the entire sentence to the other clue to get the other set of answers.
- Where did the gunpowder in the water come from?
- Connect the Answer #1 with Strange Fish to find the answer.
Answer #2: The coin fireworks weren’t pre-made. Someone swapped the gunpowder.
- Who replaced the gunpowder with copper coins?
- Connect Answer #2 with The Stolen Vault to find the last answer.
Answer #3: Jun Bujian might be the one who replaced the gunpowder with coins.
After learning the truth about Jun Bujian’s involvement in replacing gunpowder with coins, talk to the Southern Wayfarer near the building, which will then lead to another discussion with Master Wuhen on the second floor.

Eavesdrop to Find the Whereabouts of the Missing Boat

Now use your Wind Sense to locate six npcs in the boat: Siqin, Si Qi, Sishu, Brave Jin, Old Jin, and Master Wuhen. Old Jin will claim himself to be the phantom thief and start to make a run from the boat.
Battle Against Old Jin:
Now you need to catch Old Jin and defeat him to learn more about the boat and his involvement in the matter.
Bug Alert #2: Old Jin will stay idle in one place and will not move. You can’t interact with him, since the quest requires him to move to a different location. Here, just fly out of the scene to kick-start Old Jin’s running animation so you can proceed to chase him.
While in conversation with Old Jin, the Mirage Boat will disappear from the sea. Our next task is to get close to the boat’s location and eavesdrop on people.
- Eavesdrop on the conversation between Southern Wayfarer and Zither Keeper.
- Perform a second eavesdrop on Wan Shengying and Sassy Seeress.
- Lastly, eavesdrop on villagers about the boat.
The next goal is to look for clues, follow the objective marker, and you will find bamboo pieces and half-burnt papers. The objective marker will then take you to Mercyheart Town.
After a brief cutscene with the group, talk to Southern Wayfarer about the bamboo pieces and half-burnt papers. He will ask you to investigate the matter.
Tracking the Phantom Thief

Get to the objective marker, use your Wind Sense to see the footsteps on the ground. After the first one, the marker will point to the next location. Use the Wind Sense to see the footsteps. Repeat it until you get to the shoreline with bamboo pieces and papers floating in the water.
Here, you will speculate that a shadow boat is involved in the disappearance of the Mirage Boat. And the probability of the real Mirage Boat still being in the water.
During the investigation, a mysterious voice will talk to you. Now use your Wind Sense to track the voice down. Eventually, you will find a man behind the voice sitting on the rooftops. And it’s none other than the phantom thief, Jun Bujian, in the flesh.
The game will show him as a Mysterious Person, not a phantom thief. He will not stay for a conversation; he will quickly disappear. Our next task is to talk to the Southern Wayfarer, who will take you to the Mirage Boat.
Learning the Truth

Here, we will get the grand revelation that Southern Wayfarer is the Master Wuhen in disguise. We will also learn that Jun Bujian made a replica Mirage Boat using Bamboo and paper and used Old Jin for distraction.
Battle Against Jun Bujian:
Once you and Master Wuhen reach the actual Mirage Boat, prepare yourself to engage in a battle against the phantom thief, Jun Bujian. Defeat him, and a cutscene will trigger of Jun Bujian raining gold coins from the sky.
Lastly, talk to Master Wuhen and then Old Jin to conclude the entire quest storyline and receive rewards at the end.
