Key Points
- Keep checking your in-game watch for the Rainbow Icon to appear, indicating the beginning of the rare weather ‘Rainbow’ event.
- Rainbow Event offers access to Doris, a Rainbow event-exclusive NPC vendor who offers colored sugars and the Rainbow emote.
- Collect three floating Rainbow Bouquets during the event to get a 30-minute ‘Perfect Luck’ buff to increase star ratings for all hobbies.
The Rainbow Event is a rare, weather-based special event in Heartopia that offers numerous exciting buffs and special items for a short duration. I’ve spent hours and scoured every inch of the game’s map to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and I’m glad to tell you all its secrets! If you are looking forward to leveling up and maxing out all of your hobbies, the Rainbow event is perfect for you!

Heartopia – Rainbow Event Complete Guide
The Rainbow event offers three key benefits: access to Doris’s special Rainbow items (a Rainbow event-exclusive vendor NPC), special Rainbow Bouquets (each offers a 30-minute star rating buff), and rare fish spawns.
Access Doris’s Shop

Doris only offers Rainbow Special items when the Rainbow Event is active. As soon as a rainbow icon appears on your in-game watch, I recommend taking the following steps:
- Locate the Rainbow in the sky.
- Follow the arc of the rainbow to its physical endpoint.
- Locate Doris, the traveling merchant, at the end of the rainbow.
- Interact with Doris and select the ‘Special Fortune tab‘ in her store.
- Purchase the Rainbow Emote, as well as Indigo and Red-colored Sugars.
Colored Sugars aren’t just decorative items. They are key ingredients for special recipes, such as Rainbow Roll Cakes. I highly recommend stocking up on these Sugars, as Rainbow Roll Cakes offer the highest cooking XP in Heartopia. I would suggest that you purchase at least 10 units of each sugar during the Rainbow event.
Collect Rainbow Bouquets

The biggest mistake you can make is collecting all three bouquets one after another. These rainbow bouquet buffs last 30 minutes per bouquet. Chopping down the Elder Trees found in the corners of the map will give you 2x Rare Timber during the rainbow event. Considering this, I have found the best strategy to make these last longer, giving you a whopping 90-minute window of ‘Perfect luck’ rating.
Follow these steps and start the bouquet hunt near your Home.
- Pick up the first bouquet, found right by your Home.
- Start axing Elder Trees near your house to collect 2x Timber.
- Wait for the timer of the first bouquet to run out (keep chopping Elder Trees or craft items)
- Head into the Forest.
- Pick up the second bouquet as soon as the timer on the first one runs out.
- Focus on chopping down Elder Trees in the Forest till the second timer runs out.
- Head to the Truffle Zone.
- Pick up the third bouquet as soon as the timer on the second one runs out.
Focus on high-intensity fishing in Starlight Sea, chopping Elder Trees for rare timber, and Truffle Hunting. I also recommend mining ore if you come across any. However, it is advisable to prioritize fishing and getting the rainbow special items from Doris first!
Rare Fish Spawns (and cute animal interaction)
The Rainbow Event even changes the spawn rate and behavior of a couple of animals in Heartopia.
- Butterfly Koi: Butterfly Koi, one of the rarest fish in Heartopia, has a significantly higher chance of spawning in the Starlight Sea during a Rainbow Event. I have seen these fish go for a whopping 5,000 Gold, making them one of the most valuable items in the game. When a rainbow appears, make it a point to go to Starlight Sea and fish for these high-value fish. Use Premium Bait to further increase your chances of catching this rare fish.
- Special Fox interaction: This is a cute hidden detail I have noticed. When a rainbow appears, Wild Foxes in the Jungle will display a different affection animation. If you come across a Wild Fox during a rainbow event, simply feed it some meat, and you’ll be greeted with a unique, gleeful animation. This animation differs from the usual Fox petting animation. While it doesn’t have any monetary value, I found it very cute and would highly suggest you try it out if easily possible.
FAQs
Can I gain Rainbow Event benefits if it’s only raining?
No. There must be a rainbow present in the sky (or visible on your in-game watch). Rainbow only appears when it’s raining, but not all instances of rain bring a rainbow with it.
Can I stack Rainbow Bouquet with other food-related buffs?
Yes! This is a brilliant strategy to increase your overall luck. I usually use these Rainbow Bouquets with other food dishes that offer increased Luck or Speed. I recommend that you consume a food dish that offers enhanced luck immediately before you pick up a bouquet.
Is it necessary to collect all three Rainbow Bouquets?
It’s not strictly necessary, but it is highly advisable. Each one will offer you 30 minutes of increased luck, and if you carefully plan it (as mentioned above), you can get a whopping 90 minutes of enhanced luck. I recommend that you collect all three and enjoy a high yield of rare timber, truffles, and rare fish catches.
Can I save Rainbow Bouquet for later usage?
Sadly, no. The bouquet will offer its blessing, i.e., increased luck, immediately after you pick it up. Furthermore, it’s a ‘live’ event, meaning they will only appear when the Rainbow Event is active. It will disappear as soon as the event ends (weather clears).
